ernyha
I know this has nothing to do with shooting, not even country sports, in fact it is City Sports., Coventry City in fact but I make no apologies for posting it. Today I went to the last match to be played at Highfield Road, the first time, I was sat on my Dad's lap in 1947. The atmosphere was that emotional as past players and celebrities associated with the club were presented to the full house in the sunshine that tears were in the eyes of thousands, mine included. A fantastic afternoon filled with many happy memories and one or two unhappy ones Oh and the result finished off a great nostalgic day as well. Coventry City 6 Derby County
Fisherman Mike
Well done Ern... The Bantams or Sky Blues are a club with a great tradition. I was lucky enough to be at Wembley for the FA cup final of 86... I think one of the best and most entertaining finals of the modern era. The guy who played on the wing in the 70,s was it Tommy Hutchinson a very skillfull player socks around his ankles, no shin pads, as tough as teak could do things with the ball you wouldnt believe. Ill bet Jimmy Hill is as pleased as punch. The result today was a fantastic one for my team West Ham with The old Enemy Wolves beating Reading and you beating Derby and reducing their goal difference its game on again. Happy memories. Spare a thought also for Mad Springer, he is employed by The Forest and they were sadly relegated today. FM.

Tommy Hutchinson was there today and although in his mid fifties played a great game in Micky Gyns testimonial last week. Glad we helped you out by winning today but we did the same for you on the last day of the season last year by beating Palace but you threw it away by drawing with Wigan didn't you? Tough on Forest going down, a big club in a lot of trouble.

Coventry City 6 Derby County 2 £11 to watch a football match! I'm told that some people will pay nearly £3 to buy a cartridge to shoot at a duck! coney
Ernyha, as a forest fan I would give anything to beat the derby 6 - 2, at least it ends with a good memory. I can remember the last game stood in the old Trent end before demolition, stood up in the rain, cramped together and being thrown 50 feet every time we scored, and going home with ringing in your ears, the shouting was so load....its never really been the same (for me anyway), the memories come racing back...difference for you is that it is onwards and upwards for us its an entirely different direction .It’s definitely the end of an era for both of us.... ernyha
£11 to watch a football match! Yes but being over 60 I did only pay half the normal price of £22 ,as you will notice on the ticket stub. This being classed as a "Senior Citizen" has its advantages at times. A.R.P.
Ern, I was just having a mooch in the shed and guess what? I found a commemorative bottle of strong ale for the cov v spurs 1987 cup final. It was brewed at Cape Hill by M&B.I remember delivering to the football ground and the gaffer asking us if wanted a drink (Silly Question) and i asked if i could have a bottle of the strong ale instead no problem he said.It would be a shame to open it after all this time plus it is well past its sell by date.Anyway it is yours if you want it. I could bring it to one of the Game Fayre's and meet up at Deakos if you like Listen out A.R.P. PS .Do not ask me to put a photo up as my camera is older than the bottle. Cranfield
I attended a meeting at Highfield Road Stadium, it must have been about 15 odd years ago. They were looking for Investors to help fund the new Stadium. The Marketing chap went on about sliding roofs, disappearing playing surfaces, it was going to be an electronic marvel. During the tour of the Ground, I commented that they must be proud that Highfield Road was one of the first all seater Stadiums and once, one of the largest in the Country. The Marketing chap said that it had more blind spots than any other Ground in the League and the quicker the Club relocated, the better. I don't think anyone who attended that day was very impressed with the prospectus, or the Marketing chap.
