Hardcases wanted for gun transporting duties . . . .

Hello all,

Does anyone know where (online or in the NE) to get decent quality but not obscenely prices hard cases for rifles/shotguns. :(

I’ve been looking at the Pelican range which appear to be the best. I'm not after anything ornate, just something to protect guns in transport (airline approved). I'm wanting to look at alternatives before shelling out £200 on what is for basically a plastic box! ;)

Cheers

Mark

I picked up a Sako rifle case for £30 plus P&P off Fleabay a few weeks ago, for carting my .22 round the farm.

Of the premium cases I have, the Peli is tough, and the all-metal Kalispel and Americase offerings are virtually indestructible. Toughest of the lot is a bespoke flightcase of aluminium and marine ply construction, for transporting a pair of shotguns. I used to do a lot of travelling with guns, and needed genuinely resilient luggage.

Buy the best you can afford.

I sold an aluminium (Airline Approved) Case on here not so long ago for £35 - you can get them at Sportsmanguncentre - look under litts shotgun cases. they were on clearance recently for about the same money. They are not high end kit but they will certainly protect your firearms in transit (may not last 20 years but who needs that...). However one point to remember is they are breakdown shotgun cases which means you will just about get a short barrel carbine in without any dissasembly. Fits the Sako Quad, with scope etc and barrel (removed of course) nicely. But would fit any rifle with the barrel removed - which shouldnt be a problem for transit purposes.

Take a look at them online and make your own mind up - They are cheap but the build quality is perfectly OK and theyre lockable

Hope this helps
