tweedledee
hi guys i`m just back from the gunshop.i bought myself a winchester 1400 for £60 . the gun was in overall good condition and has a 28" barrel with a winchoke fitted.i was only after a cheap gun to open another slot on my firearms certificate.i`m well pleased at its condition. there are only a few rust blemishes which when oiled up should dissappear.when did winny stop making the 1400? are there any tips to keeping it in good working order? is this a 3 shot only? i`ll see how it cycles when i get it and if and when i buy something better i may decide to break it and sell some parts of.i really can`t complain about it`s condition.if it works it may make a good hide gun. there seems to be little nice secondhand stuff so at least my paperwork is on the move
drut
I had a 1400 years ago & it was only a 3 shot then despite there being no legal restriction at that time so maybe only designed as a 3 shot. Nice shooter as I recall with soft recoil. I had 3 winchokes with it but only ever really used the 1/4. It did feel "lightly" built but never gave any trouble in the 4 years I owned it. EddieB
Had mine years, never had any bother till the firing pin failed. Download the 1400 owners manual from the net and your away. Used to strip mine every 200 shots only half hour job when your used to it. Only complaint i have now is that i cannot get a firing pin, you can buy them i the USA for $20 dollars but no companys will ship abroad. So its going to have to sit in the locker till one crops up. Eddie talk nicely to lee, he might be able to get you something sent over... congrats on the new gun mate, was it a one on/off or are you applying for it? if you are will you let me know how long it takes to be processed; thinking of getting a few bits and pieces at the mo but the 3 1/2 month wait i had swapping one .22lr for another is putting me off any more changes
