busdennis
the local pigeon club as had call to shoot some crows, can you decoy em like pigeons as the farmer wants dead birds leaving in the field. so does dead birds left as they fell deter crows and if they are placed in a pattern belly down attract em
steve_b_wales
You can decoy crows just like pigeons. I actually find them easier to decoy. Get a few crow decoys and place them out in the field. I use a Primos Power crow call to draw them in. The ones that you shoot can be used as decoys. One fo the best things I use is a flapper. When a crow is attatched to this, and starts 'flapping', I find that crows come in really close and present you with good shots. Hope this helps. weejase
Hi mate, I bagged over 60 a couple of weeks ago I set out 4 flocked decoys with some broken egg shells sitting beside each one. The best thing I had In my armoury was my primos power crow caller It brought the birds In from all around. jase.
andy33
Personally i find it difficult to decoy in Crows, they do have a certain knack of smelling out a trap. I've had some success with decoys and primos and recently have thought of a digital caller but not sure which to get, they seem to be building up on my permision again so a concentrated effort over the next few weeks i think. p.s make sure you have a good hide set up you'll need it. Imperfection
I dont normally have much trouble decoying crows, but in all fairness there does seem to be an awful lot of them round here so its probably law of averages and possibly not my technique! I scatter half dozen decoys in no particular way about 15-20yds away from my pigeon deeks then keep as still as possible inside hide and only move when about to fire. I have however just bought a Primos Power crow call on Steve B's recomendation so will be intresting to see whether it can entice them from the large wood some distance away. steve_b_wales
When trying to use the Primos Power crow call, don't give up if your 'call' does not sound like a crow. It takes practice, and I have been using these calls for years. They, in my opinion, are the best on the market. I can use mine for crows, rooks and jackdaw's. Spaniel
Crow calling or Mad Cow calling is good fun, im still getting use to the ACME one, but seems to be getting the hang of it. I seem to get a response from the crows and they do come in to take a look at the decoy etc...but not in big numbers at present, although there are plenty about up the farm, we just need to change our area of attack
steve_b_wales
I have found that the ACME call is better for jackdaws, as you can produce a higher pitch. They are brilliant for making a squabbling sound that you hear when there are a lot of jackdaws about. The Primos call is better for crows and rooks. I've even called in Seagulls to view them!
