baiting for crows

I am going to go shooting in the morning with the .22,

 

I was thinking about putting something down to atract the crows(road kill rabbit) while I sit under a hedge out of veiw.

 

would like to hear if anyone else has done this and the results?

 

what other baits work?

 

dose puting down somthing shiny work?

I use a bit of bread (visible from above) and two decoys. I like the bread because the colour of it is visible from above.

Ive heard a crisp bag with a stone in it will work. Some of the veteran shooters might be able to confirm this.

Eggs, fresh meat, bread, an open tin of sardines - they all work. What's more important is that you have the bait prepared before first light, as corvids are already feeding at dawn. Watch out for opportunist foxes trying to swipe the bait though.

 

The crisp packet one sounds interesting.

the rabbit works well,,but stake it down as mr fox might pinch it when your not looking

Iv yet to try this Baldrick. I was told it works by someone who wouldnt be the type to lead people on. Im out in the morning over stubble so i might just bring a bag and see what happens. will report back if successful

Using Glittering/Light etc to attract birds is illegal under the general licence. This would include using crisp packets.(and glitterballs)

but what if the crisp packet had crisps around it. would be like using rubbish....
