just wondered how i stand ?

i shoot a field and the main line is at the edge of the field only 20 foot from a main road ?

will i be ok legaly to shoot out into the field and away from the road

i would be sitting under a row of tall tree's about 20 foot from a main road with my back to the road ??

It is illegal to shoot within 50 feet of a road, if to do so causes "harassment or alarm" (can't remember the exact wording, but it's something like that). So if someone using the road is "alarmed" or objects at all about you shooting 20 feet away, you're probably committing an offence.

 

I suspect this dates from the days of horse drawn traffic and was designed to prevent Dobbin rearing up and running amok. Keep 50 feet away and you should be OK.

its a newish law last couple of years ,i can no longer plink in my back garden as i have a road run down the side of my house . :)

That law is as old as the hills,

 

There is nothing stopping you plinking in your garden, I assume you mean with an air gun? as long as the pellet stays within your boundary.
