kippylawkid
I would like to buy some wire cradles for dead pigeons. Not so long ago there seemed to be many adverts in the shooting press for these. If anyone has some for sale or knows of where I can buy some please let me know.
Hammergun
Why bother buying them when all you need is a wire coathanger? If you can get hold of "Pigeon Shooting" by John Grey, published by the Crowood Press, there is much detail on using dead birds as decoys.
Cranfield
Dave, Hammergun is right, they are quite easy to make. However, you can buy them from N&S Supplies, mail order, Mike Newall, Telephone 01925 728057. The last I heard they were about £12 for 5 +p&p. If you ring him, please mention Pigeon Watch.
Elma Fud
If you use that old fence wire that litters the farmyard. These cradles are not only strong, you can cut them to the length required for your crop. I find that, thick wire works best. (believe it is called 8 or 10 gauge). Don't use high tensile wire as it tends to bend over when a bird is placed on it. hope this is of some help.
400yrds
I've a wire cradle pigeon holder but it's the flapping version worked via cord pull if you're still interested? That sounds prehistoric in this digital gadget age but they did work once 🙂
