just say hi to all

me and my son just started shooting with 12b,have some farm land that we go to.

can anybody give us some tips to shooting pigeons etc?

would be gratefull for any help.

Hello and

 

Does the farmer grow anything other than grass?

 

You will need cereal or oil seed crops if you want to shoot pigeon in numbers.

 

Then you will need to read up about the principles behind decoying pigeons. There is lots of info on PW, all you will need to do is use the search facility at the top right of the page.

 

Next comes the gear which is a personal choice and depends on how deep your pockets are.

 

Do you have any woods on your permissions? There is always the chance of a shot to be had by quietly walking round the edges of a wood or hedgerows.

 

Other than that it practice on the clays to ensure you can actually hit the odd bird cleanly.

 

Its great fun though and I love it B)

enjoy it .

go out as much as you can.

try not to move about too much in the hide.

when it comes firng the gun just slow down a bit,you have more time than you think.

You dont say how big the boy is,but if hes small let him fire lighter loads 26-28grms not 32grms,

by doing this its not going to kick too much.

when it all works its a great sport and some of the best shooting you can get.
