Al Downie
I was getting ready to lob my .22 Air Ranger in favour of a .177, because I'd swallowed all the hype about trajectory and range. But a couple of days ago I was out on the farm in the evening, just as the light was failing, and I was thinking about packing up when I saw a bunny a long way off - about 60yds I reckon. What I normally do in those circumstances is lob a pellet into the base of the hedge or grass behind the rabbit, because sometimes they bolt towards me and come into more comfortable range. But this time I thought I'd have a go because it was going to be my last shot of the night. I had a guess at the range, lined up the lowest mildot I've ever used, and fired off a shot. After about a second, I heard the crack of the skull breaking and the bunny bounced into the air, and fell stone dead. It's the best shot I've ever fired with an air rifle (maybe the luckiest) and it's restored my faith in the .22 as the weapon of choice for hunting. bullet boy
.177 everytime!
ttalbot09
There is no argument anymore for 177. and 22. 22 hits harder but no one can even dream of saying 177 hasnt the stopping power for rabbits there both overkill in the head. i just much prefer 177 because of the long range iv took rabbits at without having to hold over massively. meaning the flatter trajectory. legal limit i much prefer .177 personally. FAC 22. everyday. but some people get along with 22 better its just how it suits you
