Could I just post a reminder that five of us are still looking for an additional 1 or 2 expressions of interest in the purchase of these excellent kits before I can venture on an order from the USA? No obligation - it's my risk in the end. Please see my first post on 4 September for full details. Renewed thanks to all those who have replied positively so far. I'm still hopeful.

Answers to the last two posts: 1. yes, I reckon to be able to sell for £11 incl.Vat, but plus postage (not very much as the kits are not heavy); in any event I'll put a maximum of £12 on the total cost.

2. I can't see any difference at all in the trigger mechanism between the .22 LR and the .17 HMR, though I am buying primarily for my .22 LR; if there is a difference and the kit is not suitable, I'll gladly refund anyone. No need to reply to this unless you wish to withdraw your expression of interest. Looks like I can go ahead if the last two posts remain firm, which would be great.

I'm grateful for the warning, Supersonic. Who did you deal with? The gunshop in my case (Whitaker's in Kentucky - plenty of guns there, I expect!) has been recommended for these kits in the past and hasn't generated any adverse comment in the States, but of course I'm not an American. I would hope that paying by Mastercard would give a fair degree of protection, though it would be galling not to get the goods even if the money were refunded. I'll suggest to the gunshop that good service this time might result in more sales to the UK. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear of your problem with Mr. Brooks himself. You were not alone, to judge from the US shooters' sites. I just hope that my supplier has or had more leverage with him. Whittakers stock 6000 guns, or so they claim, so they must have a bit of muscle financially (I don't know off-hand of many UK gunshops that stock more than 350). Not really relevant I know, but wasn't Kentucky the home of the original 18th century American rifle (amazingly accurate for its day but very long and awesomely heavy)? Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
