Nial
I left my gun in for a service two weeks ago. The guy said it might take a while to do because he's busy and because the chokes were stuck but it would definitely be ready inside two weeks. I phoned today but he said that whatever he did during the service has stopped the gun cocking properly and he's going to have to replace a pin of some sort, which he might have dne by tomorrow. This sounds like a waffly excuse why the guns not ready yet, or could this be legitimate? It was cocking fine when it went in. Nial.
alexr
Could be legit. but either way if it is right then you don't want it back, if it isn't then you don't want it back. He should give you the damaged part when he finishes, or at least the two gunsmiths I use down here do. If you feel he is extracting the michael then don't use him again, unless you don't have a choise. Also do you only have the one gun. if you do then get yourself a cheep back up. Some gunsmiths collect old pump action guns and send them abroad as they are worth very little here. I got my sqires for £30 It works a treat and is extreamly rugged. Its also great fun to use. Cranfield
Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer Gunsmiths and they all are very busy. Delays and late returns seem to be almost the norm. He doesn't seem to have suggested that the "pin replacement" is going to cost you any more than what you were expecting to pay for the service, so its just one of those things you have to grin and bear. Nial
Thanks for the feedback guys. I haven't got the gun back yet, he said he's fix it before tomorrow if he can. I don't think I'm being fleeced (yet, I haven't seen what he's charging) I just wanted to know if this was a legit reason why it's not ready yet. I'm an idiot for waiting a year to get it serviced, I'm missing all the best stubbles. Also do you only have the one gun. Yes, but hopefully soon to be rectified. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer Gunsmiths and they all are very busy. I've had the stock off and what's inside looks very simple. If I could get parts I'd be tempted to have a go myself. I'm a professional engineer with a long history of messing about with cars so I'm sure I'm capable of a basic service.
