EvoCars
Has anyone got any ideas as to what the best method is for shooting foxes with a shotgun in a heavily wooded valley, Ive had so many chickens taken recently in broad daylight, even if I spot one about, scare it off, they come back in 30 Min's or so somewhere else on the property, and I cant keep my gun on me all the time, Ive had the odd few, but its very hard, my dogs always used to take care of them but the ones recently passed away and her sister is 12 and hasn't got the legs to catch them anymore, am I best sticking some food out and sitting back or try lamping or something, the woods are that overgrown if you don't hit them within a second or so their gone out of sight, any info would be appreciated, cheers . apache
Build or buy yourself a fox trap. Bait it and then they can't run away There was a thread recently where someone had made their own.
Doggone
Use a dead chicken as bait, if he's left you one that he's killed. Rig a hide up downwind of the bait within shot gun range. Good luck Andy Don't get your scent on the bait Edited September 13, 2009 by Doggone

DaveK
Find out where his runs come out of the woods and put snares down.

EvoCars
Cheers for the info lads , I had a go sitting out last night and squeaking it, spent a few hours looking for where its living but its like a needle in a haystack, its (prob more than 1 anyway) coming in from all over the place, doesn't have 1 regular run anywhere to set anything up, and when I say coming on to the property, i mean right up to and almost onto our patio, back lawns even to withing 15 to 20 feet of my workshop that's got compressors and the like going, and this is in broad daylight with people about, think Il have to start keeping my gun with me at all times, last one I had was luck really, happened to be cleaning my gun when the chickens started going mad, run out the house to see charlie runnning across the lawn and down in to the valley, stuck some carts in while on the run and managed to get it before it was out of sight. al4x
what you need is a couple of other guns and organise a few fox drives, simply try and flush them out of the wood towards the guns, its one of the better ways of dealing with foxes in wooded areas
