allthegearandnoidea
I have just received my FAC back after sending it to Thames Valley to get fox etc. added for my .223 which they have now done (they missed it off last time and only added the .22 and 17hmr). However, on my last certificate it said: "The certificate holder may posses, purchase or aquire expanding ammunition, or the missiles of such ammunition, in the calibres athorised by this certificate and use only in connection with : ( the shooting of vermin, or in connection with the management of any estate, other wildlife" I has now come back without that wording on it anymore so does that mean I can no longer buy or have expanding ammunition anymore? I hope I don't have to send it back to them again. Plus I bought a load of .22 subs before I sent my ticket to the police that I'm not sure I'm allowed to have in my safe anymore! allthegearandnoidea
Brilliant! I guess I'll go and pick up the .223 and sound mod that I have ordered tomorrow and send it back to them again. I hope it is third time lucky for getting everything correct this time. Harnser
Yes ,as Harv said they have cocked up . If they have put fox on your ticket then they have to put the expanding ammo as well . Harnser .
allthegearandnoidea
Spoke to Thames valley police this morning and they said that because my certificate says vermin, ground game, fox and other legal quarry then this covers the requirement for expanding ammo and it doesn't need to be separetly listed. Does anyone agree (or disagree) with this? I'm going to go to the gunshop at lunchtime so I'll see what they say (and will sell me)
miniwizard
it needs to on your licence,as the gun shops wont sell you expanding ammo,or even the bullets to reload.
Beardo
It's given that for hunting purposes expanding ammo is required, BUT everyone's ticket still says it. Be interesting to see if the shop will sell you any.
garyb
You need it changed. You will have a problem buying any expanding without such words on your ticket.
allthegearandnoidea
Just spoke to the police again and this time they said they have made an admin error and it needs to go back to them to be corrected.
njc110381
That's a silly mistake! They must be busy or something For now buy a box or two of A-Max target rounds to use until you get your cert back. They expand fine and a lot of shooters use them for Fox/Vermin. I did in my .
Dirty Harry
My brother in law got his ticket back today and he had the same issue. They also said that as virmin is on the ticket expanding ammo is a given. Harry
Lancs Lad
Yeh....must be an error like the guy that came into the shop with a 50 cal on his ticket............ Reason - 50 cal will be used for vermin control.......................................................... He is a long distance shooter, dont think there would be much left of Charly or Bugs...............and not 100% sure if it would work with a mod on.........lol................
