  1. I think gassing badgers is the way forward for mass control, unfortunately don't think Nitrogen is going to be any use/ accepted, whilst its great in non burrowing animals e.g. people as we can't detect low oxygen just high Co2 and by having high nitrogen content you just suffocate without feeling a thing. Unfortunately there are a few well done research papers that suggest burrowing animals have the additional ability to detect low oxygen. I highly doubt badgers were tested in the studies however so might be okay, but its certainly a risk, (I looked it up as part of a study into using Nitrogen as a method of killed livestock for slaughter and the studies have been published in journals) Definitely worth looking into gases that might be accepted e.g. CO
  2. I was thinking it might make quite the good crow decoy
  3. Pretty sure the OR is right, It just means you can turn up to a registered range or shoot on the land you have had cleared,
  4. I must admit I don't know about the actual law of doing so, The only thing I can add is the (albeit very small risk) that if there is any trace of poison or lead or something silly then you might possibly be at some risk. Being honest though if I saw a nice specimen I would be tempted too
  5. I have the same wording on my ticket so I called the police 3 times and got 3 different answers, One said that I had to inform them and they would check it for me even if it had been previously cleared One said that If I knew it was cleared up to my specified caliber I would be fine and just to shoot it The last said similar to if I know its cleared then go ahead but to let them know where it was...? Not sure what to take from that
  6. Hi mate I live in burton on trent, How much would you do it for collected? Thanks Tom

  8. Just wanted to say thanks a lot for the iris cover, I took it out the other night and it worked fantastically It drastically improved the focus and therefore the quality of the image, Definitely worth getting if you have a Photon.
  9. It will be interesting to see how Surrey does, I've also heard that Aberystwyth and Newcastle are planning to open in the next few years, I'm hoping I will be graduated and in a secure job before the rush
  10. I agree completely in the fact that just because something can be done doesn't mean it should, however, the majority of the expenses of a normal vets will be the standard equipment, including X-rays and scanners, which has to be reflected in the price (which in comparison to human medicine is cheap). The extreme cases of surgery which require extremely specialized equipment such as those used by the bionic vet are generally only owned by referral practices and that's when bills move out of the hundreds into the tens of thousands and so the cost of the operations have no reflection on the bill from a standard first opinion practice. Unfortunately in the future its probably going to get far more expensive when vets start qualifying with £60-70k of debt instead of £20-30k and need to earn their debt off.
  11. Thats more a bit of a ****** off response, I admit I did sound a bit simple but it's irrelevant to the thread
  12. The fact you have based that opinion on a few lines of text reveals far more about you than I. The simple fact of the matter is you instead of arguing or stating a valid point about vet's fee's and instead tried to make a personal remark makes me question your motivation of even posting?
  13. I can guarantee the first things the vet would have done would have been to put the cat on painkillers and stabilise it allowing the owner to make an informed decision, the matter of insurance/money is you wouldn't want the vet to go through with the operation to fix the animal (chances are the injuries could have been fixed but it's impossible to tell without knowing more information) and then present you with a massive bill without you having said so and contrastingly you also wouldn't want the vet to put it down assuming the owner couldn't/wouldn't pay for it without actually having the owner say so. The "high cost" of vets is due to the expensive nature of the profession, drugs are expensive as is equipment, petrol and running the business as well as having to pay off 5 years of university.
