fishingtex Posted May 28, 2015 Report Share Posted May 28, 2015 Hi all, I run a small friendly syndicate shoot and I am looking for beaters for the this seasons shoot. Unfortunately there will be no payment but elevenses and a meal afterwards will be supplied. We are an eight/nine gun syndicate and shoot on alternate Saturdays though out the season. Normally starting the last week in October or the first week in November. The land we use is approximately 200 acres(a mixture of open fields and woodland) and we have between six and eight drives on our days. Beating dogs would be a bonus but not essential. We may be able to offer a beaters day near the end of the season, but I cannot garuantee it. I would need to speak to the other guns to see how they feel. All our beaters last season did it for the enjoyment of it and the food I laid on. When I offered them money at the end of the season they wouldn't take it?? We are a small friendly shoot building for a bigger future and when finances allow we would gladly pay beaters on the day. Also have a beaters day shooting. Good luck with finding a team for this year with no incentive, but I think you'll struggle it's not a big deal for every gun to stick £15-£20 in a pot for the beaters works out at £7.50-£10 per week for a days sport which if not for beaters would be none existent or very poor at best. williamr Posted September 7, 2015 Report Share Posted September 7, 2015 If you enjoy your sport and want to get the best out of your shoot,you need to consider a beaters fee,paid by your guns, I am a member of a small south yorks shoot, which used the good will of beaters who came for eleven's however it was very hadoc if we had two shoot days the same due to the inconsistency of the numbers of beaters,we now pay £25 per gun,the quality of the beating team as improved 100% and is more enjoyable shooting with regular faces, good luck. I was hopefully asking to see if I could get just a couple more. The more the merrier. We will be trying to raise funds from the guns but it's the same as everything when money is tight and not a lot of spare cash around. I do understand that I will get beaters if the funds allow, but there are also a lot of people who enjoy the day for what it is? Bullet we are in great houghton.
