Despite the weather forecast it actually rained very little.

Several new faces at the shoot, hopefully they will return on a better day.

Mark stone from Gun Mart Magazine attended the shoot to give a new FIAT 4 x 4 a run out and put two of the new Brixia Shotguns to the test for an article which will appear in a few months time.

He was impressed with the developments that we've made at the ground; impressed with the Brixia Shotguns and also gave the bacon butty and brew a big thumbs up!

Weather forecast for this Sundays shoot looks good.

We shall be stopping the shoot shortly before 10:30 to permit us to hold a one minutes silence at 10:30 to remember the 22 people who were killed and the many injured and affected by the Manchester bomb.

The shoot silence will commence with one long blast on the stop shooting horn.

Shooting may recommence following 3 short blasts on the horn.

Despite a couple of technical glitches during setup, we were ready for the usual 10am start.

The weather was superb, as was the turn out.

We had visitors from Texas and Rumania amidst several new faces.

A few more new members and several lessons booked into the future.

Phil and I are traveling to Cambridgeshire on Monday to collect 4 maybe 5 used Laporte traps which we shall refurbish in preparation for our move up to a 100 bird shoot when the necessary ground works are completed.

Phil and I completed an 11 hour round trip on Monday to collect 4 Laporte standard traps and a Laporte rabbit trap.

The traps are in very good condition but will be completely refurbished before being put into service.

We shall soon commence ground works in preparation for two new stands which will allow us to move up to a 100 bird shoot.

We've plenty to do.

Work party on Sunday.

Was at the shooting ground on Monday with JJ and Grandson Jacob for a meeting with BASC with regards to a couple of future projects.

Despite the non stop rain, Jacob still got to shoot his air rifle by using the trailer van as a shelter.

The trees have really put on growth and are now top heavy with leaf. Will need to stake them soon.

The ground is looking good, a massive improvement from the field of weeds and mud that we took over just two years ago.

Started the propagation of a couple of hundred Boxwood cuttings ready for planting out early next year. We now have a couple of thousand Boxwood cuttings on the go.

The trial run commenced last year has worked reasonably well with most of the plants having taken despite a shakey start.

Tommo will be shocked and impressed with what he sees when he returns from his extended holiday.

Superb weather for a great shoot that was well attended.

One new trap put to test on stand 1

Members have now clocked the preparation for two new stands on a part of the ground which we haven't previously used.

Young webber put his new Brixia Selvaggio 20 gauge to the test for the first time. The gun drew quite a bit of attention due to its unique engraving Sadly this gun is an absolute one off.

I conducted 2 lessons with a new Brixia Raven 12 gauge, and did a demonstrator shoot with a Brixia 20 gauge. The casual enquiry will probably result in a sale.

The tractor mower is bust. We shall have to make a new mower deck as I've been unable to locate a replacement.

The new strimmer on wheels which replaced the stolen harness type strimmer was put to impressive use for the first time.

Weather forecast looks good for this Sundays shoot.

We are having a working party on Thursday evening and hope to test out another rabbit - looper trap that we've recently refurbished.

If it works fine I will work it into the shoot design for Sunday.

Despite a BBC gloomy forecast the local MET Office forecast was spot on.

We had a glorious day, and fantastic shoot.

The new rabbit looper put many to the test, but was easily shot with the correct technique.

A couple of technical glitches. One solved on site the other is now in the Norgas workshops and will be resolved for the next shoot.

Weather forecast for this Sundays shoot is good.

We should have a couple of the refurbished Laporte traps on test.

Grandson Jacob and I planted some bulbs and Lavender plants on Sunday.

More Lavender and Buxus are currently being propagated.

Some of the Willow planted last year has really taken off and are doing the intended job of drying out the land; the footpaths are now fine, even immediately after very heavy rain.

More Willow will be planted in the dormant period.

Ordered more clays today to discover that the price has increased yet again. 12 to 15% is more than we can absorb, we have therefore had to adjust our prices.

Grandson Jacob Tommo and I will be at the shooting ground on Sunday doing a few jobs. Including planting some bulbs and cutting the grass with our newly acquired tractor mower. It's the second one in as many weeks.

The weather looks really good for both the Sunday work party and the Bank Holiday Monday Clay Shoot.

The Sunday shoot at Rixton & Astley Shooting Club was well attended with several new faces.

A number of them have vowed to return and take up membership.
One young man tried the Brixia Raven that we use for coaching lessons.
At about 10am on Monday morning he was in the Norgas gun shop to buy one for himself!
I think that he was impressed with both the quality and price.

Next shoot is Sunday 1st. October.
