I’m looking for a cheap run around to save putting the mileage on my truck. I’ve seen a couple of Peugeot 207’s that fit the bill but I was wondering what the reliability is like with the 1.6 HDI Diesel engine. Ben

I’m quite lucky in the fact that I can start and finish work whenever I want as long as we get our hours in every week. I start early and finish early meaning I can look for pigeons when I finish. It also helps that I can shoot most of the farms between work and home so I normally take a different route back every afternoon to look what’s going on

Yes this ground is fairly light. If you look at the last picture the rape in the distance was planted 2 weeks earlier than the field I shot. The other fields are now well in to flower, this was due to the constant rain we had after it was drilled

Last Friday I shot a farm that I’d been watching most afternoons on the way home from work. There had been plenty of birds every time with a line joining it from a distant wood. I got set up and the birds started to arrive but not in the numbers I’d been seeing. I finished the afternoon with 60 pigeon. Friday just gone I shot a field of clover that I’d been keeping an eye on. The trouble is the birds just weren’t settled on one field. I normally shoot some good bags on this clover around May time but with a few starting to build up I gave it a go. The forecast was heavy showers and they didn’t get it wrong, I got soaked. I was set up on the edge of a small copse for 13.00 and called it a day at 17.00. The heavens opened as I was packing up so no picture but I finished on 58 pigeon. Yesterday I shot a 100 acre field of rape which half hasn’t come very well. Again I’d been watching it on my way home from work and there was a steady line joining it. There is no cover in this field and after watching it all week the birds wanted the middle of the field and that’s where I set up. I got set up earlier than I needed to but the birds came nicely all afternoon with the bulk coming from 15.30 onwards. I finished with 123 pigeon.

Decent steel shot cartridge for pigeons
bunny_blaster replied to B686's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I’ve shot most steel cartridges on the market on pigeons and now my go to cartridge is the RC 24g 6’s. I’ve killed some seriously tall and long pigeons with them. Another good cartridge is the Bioammo 28g 7’s and the lylvale 28g 5 -

I’ve been watching this block of rape for some time waiting for a good windy day and yesterday it was perfect. I’ve shot this rape a few times this winter but it got shot hard by a bloke in December/January who sometimes shows up out of the wood work, normally in the summer on the stubbles. He was at them 2/3 days a week shooting small bags and it made the birds ridiculously spooky so much so I stopped even looking at it. This bloke hasn’t been about since the end of January and after being informed by a friend who works on the farm that the birds were back i had a day at them. There is a large block of clover on the other side of the road to this rape and quite often the birds disappear over there when you start shooting but the wind was blowing straight towards it and it kept the birds moving all day. I was set up and in the hide for 11.30 and it was pretty non stop until 3 when they just stopped flighting. I gave it until 4 and after a long pick up I finished with 214 pigeon

A couple of weeks ago I got a call off a local farmer to reduce the deer numbers on his farm. During my afternoons/evenings after the deer I noticed a few pigeons on his rape so I had a day on them yesterday. It wasn’t ideal conditions with bright clear skies and very little wind but I got set up in my chosen spot and the birds came steadily most of the day. I finished with 129 pigeon.
