To back it up, I noticed his Signature, have a look Good luck with the rifle! I still remember the day I got my first rifles but I couldnt use them for a few days untill I had the time. The pain was immense This memory will last a while Happy times.. which I could shoot them more.

dazzyboi
Got a simmonds whitetail 6.5 -20 X50 50mm objective lens so the high mounts were needed... Looks abit weird now but should look ok once the scope is on.
Deako
dazzy, Nice looking rifle mate, but the mounts look very high? Its always best to try to have the scopes objective as close to the barrel as possible, I think you may need lower ones. Enjoy your new shooter mate. Ill see how much room i got when the scope is delivered..worst case ill have to buy some more mounts...there only £16 If i go for the medium mounts it only supports upto a 44mm lens "Sportsmatch TO4 1" scopes up to 44mm lens, medium height, 2 piece, 9.5-11.5mm. Fits all air rifles with 9.5-11.5mm dovetails. Features double hex screws and recoil stop for superior clamping. Proven competition performance." Hunter
They dont have to be Sprotsmatch, plenty of other good mounts. Best to buy, as said about, mounts that keep the scope very near the barrel. Have a look around on the internet or ask in the gunshop. Should be a nice gun! always wanted to try an HMR
dazzyboi
Ill give target sports a bell tomorrow and see what they think.. I might go for the mediums and see what there like... Least i will have both then..i cant see a low mount being right so its either going to be medium (supports upto 44mm lens) or high (supports upto 56mm lens)
Hunter
Remember that medium mounts, although suited to 44mm objectives, is measured when the mounts are on a flat surface with the scope. Usually there is a slight dip where the barrel is connected to the action, they are usually never level, so this gives you extra room for the scope. If you have a tapered barrel, you may have even more room. I dont know if that will give enough for a 50mm on your gun, but it may be worth a try. Best of brining the gun to a shop and try a few sets

Peter_HMR
150yard rabbits are no problem 200yards are still fine and over for rabbits if your capable but the little 17 grainer is running out of energy to be taking a fox at the range but up to 100-125 its plenty capable once hitting the right spot

Peter_HMR
Fair enough if you can group it well at that range and are getting clean kills but your getting into CF territory ask yourself would you shoot a fox at 200yards + with a .22lr as once the .17hmr reaches 200yards it starts leveling out with the .22lr and energy levels are pretty much the same. I'm not saying it cant be done and if you want to do it fine but why not just call them in 75yards and shoot them then.
