  1. if he really knew your address he would tell you the first line of it to scare you more.
  2. Thats a good idea, i might be copying that. you can buy a fladen one for about £30 from some fishing shops, but it looks about the same as this.
  3. www.cabelas.com shows some of the stuff you can get over there, personly I'ld get a cast net so I could catch whitebait in the summer and a fishfinder for my kayak. Can't think of any essential shooting stuff I'ld get, all I need is dog, gun, whistle & cartriges, possibly some pigeon decoys an I've got all of them.
  4. I'm interested in the reels, have sent a PM.
  5. piece of **** if you use a pointer, it'll sit 5 yards away. Or if you get up early and walk round the edge of a wood with phesant pens in it there'll be loads within 30yrds. I don't doubt you can kill it cleanly with an airgun, but its definatley not sporting!
  6. Haven't read all the replys so not sure if anybody already said it, but try one of the comparison websites, i used www.confused.com which makes you fill in a massive form then gets quotes from all the companies and compares them. Turned out the cheapest one for me was the post office.
  7. this might help to, would certainly sort out the foxes- I notice they don't mention cleaning it, I bet thats a bit of a mission!
  8. I used to work training drug and bomb detection dogs (2 years ago), I think the thing that got me the job was my experience training gun dogs over anything else, although its well worth doing A levels if you can. It wasn't for the police but a private company owned by a total moron complete with his own drug problem! The thing i found most surprising about it was how little training the dogs actually get. Compared to my gun dog these dogs seemed semi feral. The idea was to keep them working as naturally as possible un restricted by training, the majority of the job was getting the dogs really excited about finding a tennis ball. It was quite fun but compared to training pointers for shooting it was very simple. I would definatley recommend doing it through the Army, RAF or police as my experience of the private companies was a very bad one. I was thinking about doing it through the army, i think the entry requirement for them is about 3 x C at GCSE or there abouts.
  9. I shot 2 rabbits with one shot once, I think they were both running for the same hole. A few of you mentioned shooting stuff you didn't realise was there? I was out rabbit shooting with my mate who went off and returned with a hen pheasant, this was in April on land where I had the permission to shoot and he was coming as my guest and we had been specifically instructed never to shoot that farmers game. Naturally I gave him quite a telling off and felt he thoroughly deserved it, he claims he was shooting at a rabbit an hit a pheasant which was hiding in the same area and only saw it because it moved after he shot it. Do you reckon there could be any truth in his story? I think its hard enough to hit them when your aiming at them so his story seems far fetched.
  10. I go to greenfields in kent fairly regularly, there are 2 short portly fellows who work there an older one with hair and a slightly younger bald one. I've always found both to be fairly friendly and give good advice. Sounds like he was having a bad day, shouldn't have taken it out on you but every one has a stress every now and then. I used to shop at hythe gun sports when it was open, untill i decided to boycott them. The owner sold me a shotgun with a crack in the stock complete with a dodgy repair (a small screw) eventually several years later i wanted to part exchange it for a different gun and was told that "i wouldn't have a gun with a repair like that in my shop" when i pointed out i brought it from him like that (i didn't repair it), he went mental and we had a shouting match across the shop floor, having been a well known regular customer of his for the previous 10 years i was quite ****** off, and started using Ashford & greenfields dispite having to travel an extra 10 miles or so. I'ld recomend both Ashford & Greenfields.
  11. Hi I've got an old rizzini 20g over under with a crack in the stock. Apparently the crack in the stock makes the gun worth nothing, and as the guns are out of production I cant get a new stock. So I thought there might be a slim chance that someone on here may have a similar gun with a knackered action or in an unuseable condition who may want to sell the stock. If you do let me know. Cheers. Alex
