  1. A quick nod of my cap has to go to Derbyshire constabulary for a super quick issue of my SGC...it arrived this morning!!! Although nearly had to apply for a replacement as our 5 month old little border took a fancy to the post this morning..little rascle! The only real downside is now nothing is stopping me from splashing out on a new toy..and i had one of those new 686 E in my hand yesterday...temptation is a wicked thing!
  2. Top advice...and very very funny!
  3. interesting to read the discusion on barrel length, i've been trying out a few recently and as someone who has just started shooting i can really notice the difference in the different length of gun, I find the 28 very snappy and hard to get a smooth swing going, i have settled on a 30 as i find i have more time as the once you get the gun moving you can focus on the clay, the gun will follow. i did try a 32 Ultra XS and really liked it, i had 2 rounds on Skeet with it, first round after just picking up the Gun i hit 23..which is now my PB, but second time round i only hit 19...i just found it too heavy (or it found me too weak ) i was struggling to push the gun back to get the second on the pair. i havn't found swapping guns about has really hurt my score, only when the gun really hasn't fit well but i have certainly noticed more scores drop if my head isn't on...the brain is a great thing, if you convince it you are going to miss then you generally do!
  4. Just so i know my prices are correct am i right in thinking that the Select sporting was the model before the Select Energy and is infact a different action? I'm only checking as the cheapest new Select energy i can find is over a grand!
  5. interesting! I obviously need to pick it up and see how it feels before i can really comment but thank you for the repiles. i'm definitly going to have a look at them but will need to check the prices out. Brand new i have seen these coming in at 1200 (MK70 terratory) but s/h they seem to be about the 750 mark. I have seen some reports about issues with the foreends on early select energies but apart from that most reports have been positive. i'm not able to go and have a look untill i get back from working abroad anyway so will have to wait untill i can get my hands one..hopefully somewhere will have one where i can fire a few off..thats the only way to really know i guess!
  6. cheers, i've read most of te reviews i can find on the net and all seems to be in good order, agree on the value thing so was definitly going to get one second hand..Already eyed a couple of them... Not too worried about the finacials adding up..at the end of the day i'm not looking for a sound investment just something i like and i'm sure what ever it de values by i will have had my usage of so as long as it fits thats the main thing! I quite like the idea of a more modern looking gun, i saw what i think was a 686 Gold E at my club the other day...thats a nice looking gun!
  7. Still looking for my first gun so rang a local dealer near my parents (no excuse needed to go and see them of course ) just to see if they had anything in and as he went through the list mentioned a Winchester Select Energy..Not heard about them till this moment, so looked up on the tinternet and i certainly like the look of them but just wondered if anyone out there had one and what users opinions were. Obviously i'm going to see how this gun fits but any insight into how they shoot would be good. I'm looking at the 30in M/c with adjustable stock. Interms of handleing can you compare them more to one type than another? I have mainly shot with Browning and Miroku but also used a Beretta - missed with them all - i would really like a browning Ultra XS but its a little out of my price range
  8. Licence to kill, or take Ruddy Ducks (Oxyura jamaicensis), Those ruddy ducks are always hacking me off!!
  9. Another waste of a life and to leave this world in such a horrible way..feel bad or his family. Interesting the way that media records these events..A KILLER stretch of road has claimed another life when a man’s car smashed into a lamppost, Was it really the road or was it the way he was driving.... From the above it sounds like the latter but thats not how history will recor the event and will be just more evidence used to add yet more 'safety measures' to what can already be at times overly complicated traffic systems.
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Just in case you are an American, or possibly drive a car made by Suzuki (except for the new snazzy new Swift), we will spell the purpose of Petrol Direct out to you in simple terms. This is a spoof. A parody was going to send this to my girlfriend...but then i thought about it again...decided against it on teh grounds of not wanting to point out to her its not real...
  11. i like the legal infomation.. Vin Diesel is a very entertaining actor, not a biofuel. good find that
  12. When you turn the handle can you push it in at the top, used to fit loads of the cardale doors (long time ago mind) and if my memory seves me right that also had a catch at the top in the middle, ok i know its not helping your situation but just one to keep in mind. Trying deperatly to remember if there was anything we used to do or if i even ever had this situation..but after all its supposed to be secure, which wouldn't really be the idea if you could easily open it from the outside.
  13. i'm ashamed to say fopr me it will be the semi...if not only cause i need the extra shot!
  14. generally the middle of the night when i post..but then that might be to do with my time zone +5 hours from GMT!
  15. Cheers Pigeon, spot on for a bit rough shooting!

    hoodies

Exactly dusty thats my point, guns don't kill people (please don't say the bulet does) any more than hoodies smash windows

    hoodies

Just read this through..interesting topic really and just yet another highlight of the degredation of society. In my opinion "Hoodies" is just a term, just like the many other terms there have been through out the ages for people who have caused uproar in society.. From "Flapers" (anyone remeber them..then sorry to say your knocking on a bit! ) to "Punks" to "Hoodies" clothing has always been a way others have catagorised people, which in turn reinforces there behaviour and drives them in an ironic way to conform..mainly just so they can belong to something - which is a feeling that society is struggling to come to terms with now that religion, nationalism and community (the old methods of population control) are all in many cases no longer relavent to todays youth. I personally have a hood on lots of my jumpers, and i often wear it up...does that drive me to want to smash windows..well i guess some people are saying that it does...ok lets ban all hoodies, nice one thats bound to solve the problem! On the other hand alot of people say its guns that kill people, and in my opinion hoodies no more smash windows than guns kill people, its all about the person behind them. It really makes me sad to hear a story like the one that started this thread, no wonder so many decent people leave for a "better life"
  19. cheers vole, yeah that is what i meant, i guess then its just a case of putting the chambered cart in when you see your target! Pigeon YHPM
  20. Hi Pigeon, where abouts in derby are you? I'm away at the moment with work but i could get a friend to pick it on his sgc, mainly into clays but do the occasional bit of rough shooting with my mate so was after something at a 'reasonable price' that i don't mind knocking about in the field. Being a relativly new starter i don't suppose its a bad thing having the 3rd cart in there! OK this is a total newb question but only fired a s/a once and can not remeber, can it be made safe while loaded..well as safe as possible for carrying while out?
  21. Great pics, good to see some other people who go down to lowes lane, i shoot there when ever possible. Really friendly group of people always happy to help a new starter! Been a few places int eh area and there are some really professional set ups but i like it down at lowes..apart from the first time i got classified i managed to shoot a 23 at skeet... I've not sen many people shooting in camo..i mean there might be lots of them but obviously you can't see them although i just had a really funny thought of someone doing Skeet in a full ghile ... hehe sounds like some kind of bet orientated forfit if you ask me!
  22. PM to be sent in a mo..although just realised where you live!
  23. brilliant, thanks for that. so i guess the key thing there is to just get in with a local RFD and see what the costs will be. most of the dealers i have met have been a friendly bunch so i guess it should be ok! Ã guess i just need to fator in the handling costs and the transport on top of the gun price..anyone got any idea what this normally comes in at? Obviously transport will vary if someone has any examples of what it cost them it would be appreciated. cheers
