  1. Thanks for reply, bit too far to give it my full attention. Great offer for someone nearer
  2. I have a cocker and a springer, although neither are fully trained as gun dogs, The springer is very easy to control and always does as told, the cocker is eagre to please but also has a mind of her own and sometimes if she doesnt want to do something she will not do it.
  3. I have just bought a second hand 17hmr, I know the guy I am buying from, seen the gun shot and indeed shot it, I know the improvements he has made to the gun and that it has been cared for. A bad gun shop may try to sell a dodgy rifle but their trade would suffer in the long run as the shooting community tend to advise each other and a dodgy dealer soon runs out of customers. So if you know and trust your local shop go ahead, if not just ask on here and someone will point you in the direction of a good shop.
  4. If you have access to any gun stored in a cabinet then it must be listed on your certificate no matter who owns it, so your father in laws guns would have to be on your ticket and yours on his. Much easier to have your own cabinet. The following is taken from Home Office guidelines to licensing officers Integral Garage Security 2.36 Such a garage should have all its external walls constructed to the same standard (or better) as those of the external walls of the remainder of the property (eg brick, concrete block, stone). 2.37 The internal adjoining walls, if they are to be used for fixing a cabinet, should be made of brick, stone or concrete block. Thermal block walls do not usually make a secure anchorage point unless specialist fitting methods are used. 2.38 The vehicle door of the garage should be secured internally to override the opening of the door from the outside. The arrangements must ensure that the door is locked to its frame. 2.39 On 'up and over' doors, the locking device should engage the frame and the floor. 2.40 The vehicle door should be of rigid construction, either of timber or of steel. Any weakness or flexing should be addressed either by reinforcement or by fitting bolting devices to lock the door into its surround at appropriate locations. 2.41 Any other doors allowing access from the outside should be constructed to the same specification as the main entry door for a dwelling. Such doors should be secured by locks of a similar standard to BS3621, or a combination of locks or other supplementary devices to ensure that the door offers maximum locking effect into its frame. 2.42 Any opening windows should be fitted with appropriate locks. Dependent upon the vulnerability of these to attack, consideration may need to be given to fitting grilles or bars. 2.43 When firearms are stored in such a garage, and the premises are alarmed, that alarm should include the garage. 2.44 Ideally, the firearms cabinet should be located as far as possible from the garage vehicle door. 2.45 The cabinet should be obscured from open view, preferably by enclosure in an unobtrusive screening device (eg a chest, locker etc). 2.46 The certificate holder should be advised to access the cabinet only when the outer doors are closed.

  7. !st thing is I am not a plumber but we have a similiar problem when the heating is turned on in winter. With ours it was caused by the rad valve sticking to cure take the top off and spray some WD on the pin then push it or pull it with pliers. Dont know if this will help but its worth a look.

  10. This means the certificate will be posted to the FEO, he will visit to inspect security, if satisfied he will hand over the certificate if not he will keep hold of it until improvements are made and he is satisfied.
  11. Should be OK last xmas my spniel took a box of chocolate brazils, he took the chocolate off them and left the nuts all over, apart from a sore **** he was fine.
  12. I too have had some good bargains from this site:- A petrol hedge trimmer from tesco delivered for £25 16 gb Ipod touch for £149 but you have to be quick as they sell fast, a couple of days ago they listed Wickes selling folding workbenches at £1 all sold by the time I looked as some people were buying 45 to get free postage then re-selling them on markets or E-Bay

  17. Mine is synthetic which I prefer but go for the one you like, the prices quoted seem reasonble but as always it pays to shop around,as for carts mine will cycle 28s but I have heard of problems with 24s although I,ve never tried them.
  18. If you re rough shooting the Escort is the better choice,I have one which I use more than my Browning as it is easy to use, shoots well and I am not too bothered about any knocks, some on here will slate the Escort but mine has never missed a beat.
  19. No you dont need to have a cabinet before a visit but this will mean the feo will have to visit again to check the cabinet before you can purchase a gun. How long they take depends on which force it is, mine took less than three weeks from applying to receiving certificate (lancashire police). As long as you are of good character and have a reason to hold a sgc they can,t really refuse you but if for some reason you have doubt give the feo a ring to discuss it.
  20. I always have my lock knife and a leatherman on me when I am in work clothes or shooting gear and I use both at least ten times a day and would be lost without them. I also have a tiny pocket knife which I carry when dressed up, my wife and kids are always asking to use my knife to open something or cut something. It is not the knife thats dangerous but the person using it.
  21. This was my first thought, strong looking dog though. Heres mine 13 yr old Springer dog and 20 month old Cocker bitch.
  22. You can have a shotgun certificate at 15, but are unable to buy a gun although you can be given a gun.
