  1. Now a member of countryside alliance and have all the associated insurance.
  2. I've stripped mine with caustic soda mix but this was so pungent and I wish i'd have gone for the citricstrip type stuff as it's a lot kinder. Anyway I used a Johnstons Walnut Stain for two coats (wanted to see the grain still) and I'm finishing with a gloss clear polyurethane varnish. Apparently the best stuff to use is a 'Colortone' stain and TruOil gloss on top. Loads of youtube tutorials.
  3. My stock as it progresses So 410 singles are worth it? Im looking at one of these next. Maybe another baikal as I am mighty impressed with the quality of the action. Wouldnt mind having it polished though the release lever can be tough.
  4. Ive made a new one. I hope you all can postin it!http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/282065-single-shot-single-barrel-thread/
  5. From my other thread ( http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/281860-single-shot-12g-midlands/ ) asking for advice on single shotters it was decided we need a single shot thread. Post your experience and pictures here! I'll start...
  6. Thanks for the tip - I will certainly have a look around! Maybe I could make the trip to leicestershire one weekend too.
  7. I think singles really are an extremely versatile gun. Light and so simple and very pointable (that classic american phrase usually reserved for glocks and things!) I know a lot of people who are starting to come around to singles and looking on here they are popular. I am definitely considering a .410 to join the 12 now! May have possibly gotten my first permission today but wont know until the phone rings.
  8. Yes I have noticed this limit and will heed your above advice! I thought the baikal was in need of some love so here it is stripped and with lacquer removed
  9. Hi guys! So I nipped to country store in shustoke who were great. I picked up a baikal 12g single shot mp18 (made in ussr) which I had a little shoot of on the day. I got on with it well although 30g #6 kicked like 00buck! Anyway hit a few clays with it and very happy. I wouldnt mind a few more single barrels if you guys can pm me with your guns for sale? Just trying to find a shoot in coleshill or surrounding now. Seems mostly spoken for so if anyone has any oppurtunites to go out with them id be greatful. I can also help with your farmers employee risk assessments as a trade! Im a safety consultant by day. Cheers
  10. Ill take a look! Hopefully popping out for some shopping tomorrow so ill keep you all posted!
  11. Fantastic response, thanks so much for a quick reply! If you ever need a +1 I can always travel! Thanks again
  12. Hey guys So ive just had my SGC come through after getting rid of my FAC for personal reasons. I am looking at buying a single barrel single shot 12g as a cheap starter for knocking some bunnies over. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with these? My reasons are thus: I like the look - important even though this is an unpopular opinion! I like the smoothness of letting one shot off and quickly stuffing in another instead of letting off 2+1 and having to reload accordingly. They are light They are cheap I've also heard they are a bit of a recoiling gun - best sticking to light loads? I'm previously used to a .308 so shouldnt be too much of a shock? ----------------------------------------------- I'm also looking for any people who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes a bit with bunnies and shotguns and are up to have a chat and a day out in the midlands. Any takers let me know! Cheers
  13. Hi guys, I've been on pigeon watch a long time and have bought/sold and generally joined in. I am a previous FAC holder which I revoked when I changed careers due to having no time to get to the club (unforgivable, I know). I have now been granted my shotgun licence and I have bought a couple of guns. I am 26, I am a health, safety, quality and environment consultant by trade and I live in Coleshill, Warwickshire with my girlfriend and my retired racing greyhound! I am currently looking for any bits of shooting that the nice people on this forum could provide - some land to get used to my new guns would be appreciated and some nice pigeon or rabbit shoots would be most appreciated. I'm new to the shotgun side of things so I am willing to learn although I picked a fair bit up whilst holding my FAC and using .22lr. Anyway nice to meet you all and let me know! I drive so distance is not an issue for the invaluable land and experience. Thanks
  14. how long does it run for? could be immobilizer. also engine speed sensor are very common failures (near flywheel awkward to change but cheap) just some info
  15. Lots of independent bow makers still around in the UK and even better you can go on a woodland course to make your own (kids included) out of ash or yew. I made a few bows myself but i couldnt get them past 45# (lbs) of pull before exploding! I'd definitely go on a course first and see what she prefers (longbow, compound, reflex etc) and they will guide you right. You can get cheap practice arrows which arent bad as well and use these before you commit to carbon shafted fandangles.
  16. Looking for a cabinet or safe prefer 3 gun but what have you? In west midlands (birmingham) can travel a certain distance. Cheers shanegrohl@gmail.com or PM me.
  17. Yeah I do like it, infact the one time i shot it, with me being so used to the ancient club semi's, i was shocked to find out that every round went bang, and the ejection was so powerful compared. I forgot to say, if anyone has a Armi Jager AP74 m16 type .22, I will take a straight swap even though i'd lose a few quid! Best regards, Shane
  18. Sorry guys! I'm really new to the forum deal! It's brand new and basically I bought it with the intention of using as a basis for a custom AR-15 type semi. I then realised that it's a lot of work for the time I have so I won't be able to complete! It's the 10/22 with the rarer black matt metalwork, it comes with a hawke sport optics 30mm red dot, mounted on the factory installed weaver/picatinny rail. It is screw cut also, to accept any moderator or muzzlebrake you may have. It comes with orginal box (it's that new), factory lock and key + attatchment to keep breech locked open, manuals and magazine. I payed £269 a week or so ago (it still has the shops label on the box!), and fired 20 something rounds through it. I'm asking for £200. Regards, Shane
