  1. Start keeping chickens !

yes you would think so but my next door neighbour has 10 chickens and a bl00dy cockerel and they have no problem with foxes

that cockerel well that's another story I hear the dam thing every morning from 6am and it will only get earlier as the mornings get lighter gggggrrrrrrr wish the foxes would get that thing so I can sleep past 6am on a weekend maybe I ought to chuck dog food on their lawn instead

regards getting them on my lawn we have a 4ft fence at the bottom of the garden will foxy be able to climb that or should I take a panel out

  2. Tin of dog food scattered around your lawn and rubbed in,if there are foxes they will soon get a whiff and pop in,do it for a few days so they get to know it is there.

If you are going to video them leave a low light on permanently so they get used to it.

thanks for the reply only problem I can see with that is my dog will eat the food unless I put it out after I put our dog to bed and hope its gone by the morning, should I start by chucking some in the field then move it closer to the house????

we are hoping to video them from my sons bedroom window

I have wall lights on the back of the house so I will leave them on from now on they are only 40watt each so not too bright

  3. Hi All

I went out yesterday afternoon and set 15 snares with my 12 year old lad to try and catch some rabbits, this is completely new to me and I have never done it before, we went out this morning to check on the snares and my lad was a little fed up as we never caught a single rabbit

I am after some advise of people who know how to do it as I clearly don't lol, my method was to set the snares over all the rabbit holes and a couple on runs in the under growth. I set all the snares using about a 5 inch loop and set them all so the snares were just touching the floor when setting in the rabbit runs and same again when setting in the actual holes into the warrens

I didn't have the correct wire so I stripped down some old twin and earth cable I had in the garage and used the copper strand out of this obviously not ideal

so can anyone give me some advise as to how to do it properly and also what is the best wire to use and where to buy it from, the good thing is my some cant wait to get out there again I think he really enjoyed crawling around in the dirt and setting the traps he said it was much more fun than his xbox so that in itself is a result for me but a few rabbits today would have been the icing on the cake for him

    cheers shawn

  4. was watching the winter Olympics yesterday and there was an event where they had to ski then do some target shooting from various positions, I was wondering what calibre of guns they use and what guns were they

I was watching and they reload very quick with one finger I could see the shells ejecting and they shot 5 times every lap possibly 5 or more laps and I never saw them reload once

    can someone explain please :)

  5. Looks good Shawn but abit to complicated for me to do :)

its not mate honest I thought it was and I didn't understand any off it till I did some reading on another forum I was told about by a fellow pigeon watch member it really is easy I can send you all the links you need to buy all the stuff then a step by step build list it really is that easy and its as good if not better than a ns50 so I have been told I was vey pleased with the view on the screen

  7. I run my own garage and mot station its a fairly large set up with 6 full time staff and the horrendous stories I hear from customers that have visited national centres is terrible.

I had a lady in just before Christmas that her car had failed the mot emissions on a diesel car, she was quoted £600 by the national garage that did the mot to repair it they told her it need new injectors. I asked to see the emissions sheet and saw that they had tested the vehicle with an engine temperature of 14 degrees I told her this was wrong and I would do an emissions test free of charge just to check it for her as it doesn't take long, the result with the correct engine temperature was a straight pass with 3 blips of the throttle.

she then asked us to mot the car and it went straight through what a con that would have been she went back to complain and they fitted her 2 front tyres that were on 2mm free of charge for the mix up (that's what they called it)

I also had a young girl in only last week went to kwik frit with spongy brakes and was quoted £650 for discs pads shoes cylinders and brake fluid change, we had a look and all it needed was an o/s/r wheel cylinder £66 and she was on her way the discs and pads were well within spec as we measured them for her

the truth is don't use the national centres they are all on commission based wages with a low basic salary and will rip you blind without thinking twice about it, its always best to use a family run business with a good reputation in my eyes

  8. wow 2 & 3 hrs away you are dedicated sorry but there is no chance I would drive that far I just couldn't bring myself to do it

    good on you though :good:

  10. Hi All

I sent my renewal off for both my licences a few weeks before Christmas and not heard anything until today, got a letter through the post asking for my referee forms from both my references. This is a mistake on their part as I checked and double checked that everything was in the envelope that I sent recorded delivery so now I have got to do it all again.

The other thing is they have enclosed a form for one of my permissions to fill out giving me permission to shoot on there land, do I need to fill this out as this is my 3rd renewal/application after having both licences for 10 years now and I cannot remember filling this in last time.

Lastly my current licences expire on 14th January so I am now worried I could be in possession of my guns without a current licence, does anyone know how I stand with this obviously Christmas has slowed the renewal down but now there misplacing my reference forms has added to the delay
