  1. From application to receiving it including home visit about 15 days. Sussex police. I contacted the feo and he arranged the visit and took the application then. Said it saved needless posting about. So my application was my phone call to arrange home visit. Top bloke is my FEO
  2. Justjon. For bonking a not quite dead animal on the noggin with. Great for trout salmon rabbit squidgel or any bird. A bit easier than ringing the neck. A quick thwack and dead. Personally at the moment don't use one but making one from an antler so maybe soon ?
  3. Mine are about 150 yards from my front door and another a mile away then one eight miles away. Either way I can check out what's happening across all of them easily within an hour
  4. was that two ridgebacks in your pic?

  5. I think it is from the "last rights." as a priest would give a dying person. Making one from antler at the moment much to the disgust of my colleague sat on the desk next to me. (busy in here tonight )
  6. After years of Pigeon shooting, tomorrow morning will be my first time out with an air rifle since I was a nipper. I will be heading out just before first light and hoping to take some rabbit home. Annoyingly only part of the new permission as I don't get to the see the other farmer until tomorrow later in the day. I know my luck they will all be sitting just over the boundary. If they are then so be it at least it will serve a recon mission for me, and when I get the rest of the permission later tomorrow I'll ask about lamping.
  7. So then how far do we travel for a our chosen quarry or bit of land we have permission on.

The amount of times I have rebuilt family pcs and laptops etc basically given them software I pay for licenses. Last time I told my aunt stop downloading **** or get someone else to fix it next time. If I billed her what I bill normally she could have bought a couple of new laptops. I've spent many years getting my qualifications. Experience and learning the tricks that can make jobs short and sweet but I still know how to deal with things when the soft and brown hits the fan. That's why I charge what I do. And that's why companies pay me. Also people forget a company hourly rate isn't what I pay myself. There is income tax national insurance employers and employees. Corporation tax. Vat. Insurance incase I cock up. My accountant takes a cut. ( still rather work for me than anyone else though)
  9. Nah none for the table that way. Shooting it is. Maybe some trapping. I'll see how suicidal they are in front of the gun first. Cheers for all the responses
  10. I love photography as much as I do shooting. I'm happy to see pics if peoples dogs. Ferrets. Bags they've shot or views of where they have been. Can't help thinking though a sub for dead stuff and one for everything else??? Or if it ain't broke dan shut thef kup
  11. I think thats a good idea, can kinda keep the wildlife pics and the sporting pics sperate. I like both.... this fence I am sitting on is wobbling.
  12. At certain times of the year (and not just on stubble) i might be out three or four times a week and other times like the last few months not at all. It depends on whats on my permissions and also whats going on with work. I work some pretty hectic shifts so sometimes the shifts/birds and weather just do no tally. I have the same problem with fishing on my kayak but then there are tides to consider as well. given the chance. Every day. reality more than 52 times a year but that doesn't mean once a week. I love the outdoors and love having things in my sights or my view finder too. Bit like the TV are forums....if you don't like a program/thread don't watch/read it
  13. Good skills mate I can't wait to get out on my new permission. Just out of interest what pellets were you using.
  14. I am assuming here but it might be due to the horses in the paddocks, I am guessing they don't want them startled in the night. Also some of the neighbours in the area are ......... you know. But from starting with a chat with the Cricket Club Chairman about the state of one corner of the pitch and the risk to peoples ankles, offering my help as a paying member of the club. To getting permission for the farm next door (they have horses and the rabbit holes are just as much of a problem, as well as killing his hay crop) Now that farmer is working on the "Estate" owner on the other side of his land. I might end up with a fair size permission from this. So I'm kinda not wanting to rock the boat either. I just want to get in get some results and then from there just carry on having a nice permission. It's also really close to my pigeon permission too. So could make for some really nice days. So far with the farmer it has all been by phone so I just need to catch up with him this week, as we both decided actually knowing what each other look like would be useful. I have printed off a permission slip i'll ask him to sign.
  15. Thanks for all the information peoples. I might get just a couple and go from there.(and make sure they are most definitely in the tunnel) Main reason I asked is because I'd like to make a noticable dent in the population quite quickly, to show there is a good reason for me to be there. As for the Ferreting. I'd love to go ferreting somewhen. I don't think I would have permission for that on this ground. But i could enquire
  16. possible stupid question, how do you zero the lazer. does it have grub screws or something to change the angle so you can get it on the cross hairs?
  17. That is bang on the mark of what i was looking for. I wasn't sure about the having to cover the trap. I didn't want to have to be digging rabbit holes but don't want to be breaking the law either. So as long as i make sure it is well covered in a tunnel like fashion with brambles brush etc i'm ok?
  18. Do any of you rabbit shooters trap also? The warren that I have been asked to deal with is quite big, I am not sure how effectively I can manage it with just the evening forays. ( I can't lamp it) Tempted with getting some of the body grip traps. Interested in views and experiences. cheers
  19. at the risk of sounding mean, and chance of a picture of it in focus rather than the lawn? what is the reticule on it, any problems, dinks knocks etc.
  20. I guess this is the Paedo starter pack Gerber and Disney's Tangled. Gotta love those recommendations.
  21. Remember to check you Zero again when chaning pellets too. I was Zeroing the other day and having a mare, it was like fireing a blunderbust. I know i am a little rusty but you know when you've pulled a shot and yuo know when things are just not going as they should. 50% going bang on where they should 50% not even close we're talking 6" out of a 30yd shot from an £11 tin of field diablo or something. (my brain has left me today) out of my stealth pointless. swapped to some cheaper lighter pellets my old man had lying about the house (i used thier garden to Zero it is a lot bigger than mine) every single shot in the same place, a quick adjust of the sight and every shot smack bang where it needs to be other than self proclaimed pulls and twitches.
  22. So I took the bottle and the connector to local gun shop. *Beep* that's a weird fitting.... (apparently the first of the guns had a non standard top hat or something, a little beyond me to be fair) This didn't fill me with confidence. Luckily there is a hydraulic/pneumatic company round the corner. So i asked what size connector i needed for them to be able to fill it up. 1/8"BSP so off i toddle one hundred and ninety eight of my finest pence spent. bottle charging I have since been back to the hydraulic shop and they have made me up a whip from a DIN to the 1/8" with a pressure gauge on it. So once i get my 7L bottle hydraustatic tested as it has only ever been filled once but it ran out of test in 2008, it costs £34 at local dive shop, takes 7 days, I should be able to sort out my own fills.
  23. My Brother bought the Stealth when it first came onto the market some years back, it has had one charge and that is that. He has never found anywhere that can charge it for him. I have now taken on the rifle and will not settle for that. I have an adapter that seems to take me from the neck size on the bottle down to about 1/4 however I am still finding the dive shops round here (Sussex Hampshire border) doen't appear to be able to fill it. My old man has a dive bottle that has a rather wide female adapter on it almost the same size as the neck of the bottle on the Stealth. so..... What is a "Standard" size fitting for most precharge guns? does anyone else have a stealth and what have you done to get yours charged?
  24. Damn I haven't been on for a while, I am on the Sussex Hampshire border but more than happy to travel. 4x4 at the ready. I know too late now but bare me in mind for future pleeeease
