  4. I am about to apply for my certificate and am trying to decide on which calibre......... I would mainly use it for rabbits and crows and the occasional close range fox (60 yrds) What is the effective range of both? Your opinions? Finally would it be easier to gain a .22 on the license than .17HMR?

  7. I have only just uploaded this photo of a day in august and my first century. There were plenty of birds when we arrived at the field at about 10 30, had the hide and decoys set up by 11. we used a cluster of decoys at the head and a curve of deeks in a banana shape out from that as the birds were not decoying well to the U shape. also had a flapper 3 floaters and a rotary going. was a light wind and was a sunny day. picture of the hide is also included The birds were shy to begin with but at around 2 there was none stop shooting for most of the day, we ran out of carts and around 6 ish and could have keept shooting as the birds were still coming into the deeks. we could have had double the bag had it not been for the restriction a road put on are shooting, the lack of carts and most importantly are ******* **** shooting. any way had a great day and had bang on 100, 99 pigeons and one crow we fired a shocking 450 shots but who cares !!!!!! P.S we went out the next day with just the rotary and shot 30 for 50 shots in 3 hours. http://s885.photobucket.com/albums/ac53/saundersshoots_2010/?action=view&current=CIMG0106.jpg http://s885.photobucket.com/albums/ac53/saundersshoots_2010/?action=view&current=CIMG0106.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs885.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fac53%2Fsaundersshoots_2010%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DDSC00697.jpg

  9. went out last sunday about 2 to look at some freshly drilled beans, lots of crows and pigeons about even with the driving rain and strong wind. set up and soon had a couple of pigeons in the bag, before i went to pick them up i turned to my right too see, a large fox pick up a bird and walk towards the hedge. put both barrels into him about 4o yards away and bowled him over into the ditch. the birds were not decoying well apart from the odd one but it was still good fun, ended up with a couple of carrions, 3 ferals, 1 rabbit, 9 pigeons and my first ever fox. http://s885.photobucket.com/albums/ac53/sa...t=DSC006681.jpg
  10. i love them, during the season i use them for pheasants, but they do feather the closer stuff have great killing power. i use the left overs for pigeons and they are great except the price.
  11. shot a bloody fat pigeon with a crop full of clover yesterday.
  12. i had the same problem last weekends. 500 over so when we got there but they just went to the other end of the field or didnt bother looking at the deeks and flew 70 yards over
  13. Which goose call would anybody recommend for canada's ?
  14. the shootwarehouse has excellent customer service. i lost my rotary arms and 2 days later i had new ones for £30. it is much better to buy from them, another problem i had was the fuses im my speed controller they helped me fix that and told me what to do.
  15. i sometimes decoy on grass but rarely get over 15. my best is 23 on grass with some patches of clover, but that was with a field of drillings next to us so there were lots of pigeons about. its always worth a try
  16. that is why i was double checking. is it to do with the shape of the seed bit? another question is why is it still standing when it has been raining hard and been very windy?
  17. i think this is wheat or some sort of barley just want to make sure. any ideas? cant wait to shoot this field later on in august last time we shot also there is a bag from a rely windy couple of hours on some clover. only shot ten but it was fun. they came in so quickly that some landed for 5min before we realized they were there!!! http://s1009.photobucket.com/albums/af215/...nt=DSC00545.jpg
  18. im am just interested in what pellets people use for a bsa lightning .177 i have tried accupel, logun penetrator, dynamic dome heads and finally RWS superfield which seem to be the best so fair. i have had mixed results with all of these pellets and find the accupel to not give very tight grouping. just wondering what pellets people use?. i will be shooting crows rabbits woodies and magpies etc . dont shoot targets. just looking for a good all round hunting pellet at any price. thanks, louis.
  19. a farmer gave me permission to shoot on a field of peas so i went down to it this afternoon didnt see many pigeons about. there are no drillings left on the surface anymore and the crop is about 2 or 3 inches tall where they have come through, there are still allot of blank patches in the field. should i bother giving it a go on monday??:(?
  20. i have read about pigeon shooting clubs alot recently. but there arnt any in the south east. i think we should start up a pigeon shooting club in the south east. kent and sussex. if we all put are land together then im sure there would be plenty of opportunities to shoot. we would have alot better days shooting if we work in groups and move where pigeons go. we could also charge people from other places to shoot on the land. i think it is about time this is done in kent and sussex. louis. p.s already have 3 farmers that would love this idea.
  21. i am very busy this week untill friday. i will have a scout around the land a couple of times this week
