Guys, I have just obtained an old leather motoring gun case, from about the late 1800's I would say. It has a serial number on it, near the handle that looks like "p11044". Does anyone know if any gun makers would start serial nubers with a letter like this? It is on the leather, which holds the brass loop which in turn holds the handle on. Its a real shame someone has taken the label off the inside of the case! Any help is really appreciated!

Nah, its not worth all the hassle and expense really. Id rather give them to someone who can make use of them.

Guys, a midland hammergun and a belgian back action hammergun free to whoever wants to collect them up. I would say both could well be out of proof, hence free to who collects them. Might be usefull for parts etc or to practice some restoration. Pm me to get my attention.

I think there seem to be a few different Rossons. You are right, there is one in Derby, the one I am interested in is Norwich and there are Dobson and Rosson who might be different people again!

Thanks for the info. I will contact Gallyon and sons now. Do you know roughly what years they operated between? The one I have been offered looks quite old, the blueing looks a little thin on the barrels but the action is good and the barrel is in good condition where it matters, inside. The wood is tired but thats an easy job to sort. It's a boxlock ejector, all for under £100!!

I have been offered a C Rosson shotgun at a good price, it's in need of quite a bit of restoration but thats where half the fun is! Are these good guns? Does anyone know anything about them?

Basically, fourten are 2 inch long and four long are 2.5 inches, then you get magnum which are 3inches long
