any soft or hollow point "expanding" bullet will be fine Berger,Speer,Sierra Iam sure there will be a few more,Nosler BT and Vmax will work but shot placement has to be right or you could blow up on the shoulder or a rib so when I used to use them I went for head or neck shots,look to the heavier bullets weights 50,52 or 55 as there not traveling as fast so there is less chance of passing straight through without expanding best to take a look through the bullet makers web sites to see what is available,on a personal note I would choose Berger 52 gr varmint in a 222 or the 223 (made to match bullet standards) "expanding" bullets all day long as there consistantly accurate in all rifles I have used them in

no mate we have established you and a another choose to use a match bullet on deer,and you both have no regard for what is ethical. just because a certain few twist the wording of the law and conditions on your tickets does not make it right.I just hope people can see the implications of using the wrong type of bullet anyway do what ever you like but dont shout about it in public please

for what it worth my opinion of thin skinned game is rabbits,foxes hares which in the States would equate to ground hogs and coyotes,I too bring back my deer ammo from Florida but there always the correct bullet "expanding" a 100 odd mile round trip isnt an excsue for using the wrong type of bullet in my opinion,just have 1 trip and buy more than 1 box.

excuse me,it clearly states the use of expanding ammo for deer amd vermin,there is no other wording on any fac which states you can use any other ammo bar expanding,show me where iot state you can use what ever your like,as if it isnt on your conditions you cant do it and as for recomending match bullets jesus christ man are you for real,you state section 5 ammo is best practice then on the other hand you say 52 amax is ok as its different NO IT ISNT its match ammo non section 5 and non expanding and for the record a 52gr v max dosnet give excessive damage I have used them for year ago in a 22.250,at least there an expanding bullet so legal to use

you cant shoot expanding in a comp you can only shoot them for zeroing,I cant shoot target comp as I havnt got the condition on my FAC but I can zero uisng expanding,I would check with your FEO mate as i have never heard of anyone with only a target condition to be allowed to buy and hold expanding ammo,as you can buy them and use them to zero but not in a comp,strange isnt it

certainly looks thats way mate I find it amazing that your allowed to buy and hold expanding ammo without having the conditions to use them,I would like to think its a mistake by your office,it does happen like the time I was granted a semi auto 243

OK guys we all agree we have to comply with what is printed on out FAC so tell me why it clearly state the holder of this certificate may possess,purchase or a aquire expanding ammuntion or the missiles of such ammunition,authorised by this certificate and may use such ammunition “ONLY” in the connection with the lawful shooting of deer,the shooting of vermin or in the course of carrying out activities in conection with the managment of any estate,other wildlife,the shooting of animals for the protection of other animals or humans this is printed cystal clear we can only use expanding ammo for the above,so guys please show me on your FAC where its says you can use any other bullet to shoot deer vermin or and animal with match ammo,it clearly states “ONLY in the conection” so you are in breach of the conditions of your FAC if you are using any other bullet than what is allowed on your ticket,just like if you didnt have vermin condition on your deer rifle,or fox on your HMR if you are using any other ammo other than what is conditioned on your FAC to shoot deer or vermin you are breaking the law as if it isnt on your ticket you cannot do it so its illegal,as I have always said if we wasnt ment to use expanding ammo we wouldnt be given the condition,you can only do and use whats on your FAC conditions

Hi mate welcome to the debate,before a show people are breaking the conditions on there FAC what does it say on yours about buying ammo,obvioulsy you cant aquite section 5 expanding ammo as you dont have any conditions to shoot deer or vermin

OK so we agree we must comply with what is printed on out FAC for example what we can and cannot shoot with a particular caliber ?? Iam sure njc will say the same but just waiting for his responce before I take this one further,but whiule I wiat is there anyone who has only target condition on there FAC reading this

mate I have shot hunreds of deer with all manner of bullet combinations and yes I have used match bullets I dont make any excuse apart from I thought it was right and it wasnt not only they are not designed to kill game also you are in breach of your condition on your FAC,I will come to this next I didnt say you bwere an armchair shooter I didnt say you hadnt shot any deer I never said an Amax wont kill deer I said you are wrong in using match ammo and wrong recomending people to use such ammo on an open forum.thats why I alwasy get involved with topic on match bullets,its nothing personal do what you like behind close doors.

tell you what Mr Logic lets look at something totally different,just one question and I would like a simple yes ot no then i will move on with my point do we all have to comply what it states on our FAC ?? (please go and read your FAC if you have one very carefully) by the way how can a Amax be identical to a BT if the jacket is different by the way the damage isnt crazy in bigger calibers in fact its very minimal Ive used them

total rubbish how the hell can an SST or a Nosler BT be the same as an Amax,please domnt tell me "they look the same" two are expaning section 5 and the other is match. why isnt Amax sutiable for the bigger deer ?? your telling us there the same as SSts and Nosler BT,make your mind up
