  1. Bob a fox wont mind what you shoot it with but a deer may,if you use a too lighter bullet on deer you may get too much meat damage, also if you use the wrong type of bullet you may get runners my inital bullet choice would be one that will humanley drop deer and then worry about foxes after. a 130to 150 gr bonded core bullet will do all you ask of it,pnly problem you may get if a fox is sat a good waay away you may have a lot of drop but you cant do everything with one rifle but we all know how tight you are too buy two as long as you know your drops and dont go stupid at night you wont have a problem just one question why a 308
  2. +1 for Ian hes the perfect guy to take a novice out, stalked with him many many time both here and abroad
  3. does that mean if your paid to beat/pick up/load ect on a shoot your not covered ??
  4. of course how stupid can we all be,Dekers is the "perfect shot" or is it the perfect ---- a man who never gets runner,a shooting instructor,a vermin controller,a deer mentor (oh god thats a joke)chairman of a gun club ect ect ect and not forgeting a published wrighter in the shooting press (which no one has ever seen) of course its "dekers" I don my hat at his amazing talents, stand back its super dekers
  5. every other deer you ahve shot dont you mean the only other deer you have shot again where did I say I alwasy have runners ?? again you are posting bull.Ive shot enough deer to have had runners, shoot enough and you will find out,its alrerady been explained to you and others what happens, obvioulsy your inexperience is showing badly yes I too am bored to death with your pethetic jibes and stupid comments please hit the ignore button, and its a good job you didnt show at Bisley, thats all I will say on the matter
  6. I think we all know the answer to that one
  7. I love heads shots and always take them if the condition are correct you can have the right everything in place and deer can still run, again showing your very very inexperience to the whole site once again,I would back up mate as that hole you are digging is getting very deep as to may shooting capabilities YOU had the chance to show up after all your keyboard warrior spoutings, and what happend you didnt show, again showing what a splineless gob****e your really are, even after I PMed you your responce was that of a child, with your laughing faces, seems to be your trade that when your prooved wrong you still never shown us all your published works in the shooting press, whats up **** less are you ashamed or is it your usual BS
  8. youb are so full of bull its unreal, you contridick yourself so much "never had to chase a beast" your opening post clearly states "the furthest I have ever had to chase a deer of any sort was about 20 yards" be it 20 years or 200 yards YOU NEVER havnt got a clue shoot enough deer you will get a runner be it 20 yards or 200 yards,it matters not, what matters is how you deal with it. a pefect shot is a dead beast, found delt with and back in the larder
  9. I will and iam sure you will keep spouting rubbish and noy turning when invited, your a joke mate and full of bull OH there is Dekers has a magic bullet he never has had a runner, but then again probably only ever shot 1 deer the rest have been shot form his arm chair Oh **** ers Iam mean Dekers I may be at Bisley on the 20th of this month 100 and 1000 yards, never done 1000 but it will be a laugh hope to see you this time unless you bottle out again
  10. Following on from the "running deer when shot ********" I thoight I woulod start a new interesting debate on the correct bullet for the job,as its already been mentioned using the wrong bullet "can" cause runners with deer foxes and any other quarry. I know poeple use the totally wrong bullet for the job,so what do you use my personal preference though experience of tryimng diffrent bullets is Deer a bonded core section 5 expaning bullet as they hold together retaining there weight which in turm punched a nice hole with out too much meat damage (some people make you pay for damaged meat) people do shoot match bullets which is justy plain wrong, been there and dont that foxes a bullet with a good BC and will cause maximum damage as you dont want them running off and a little old lady finding one whilst walking there poodle on a sunday morning rabbits, well there not much to choose from only std hollow point or match ammo, obvioulsy dont use match ammo as they go straight through
  11. you will have no problem at all running 1 mod on all your rifles,a 30 cal hole on a 243 will be a little louder then a 6mm hole, not that you or mr fox would notice,I interchange my mod on my 7mm wsm and my 243 AI it has 30 cal hole as to which mod well thats a personal choice, take a look and handle a few then make your own mind up,but for the money you cant go wrong with a third eye tactical sparten
  12. I was picking up on shoot when it was really hot in Yorkshire the guy i was riding round with had an aditive he mixed with his water.it was something they give greyhounds after they have ran a race,it puts salt and other minerals back into them, dont know wht it was called but he sais it worked a treat
  13. well the OP should learn to grow a set as he "ridicules" everyone at the slightest opertunity, unfortunatley for him hes made himself look a complete fool and its looks hes not as experienced as he thinks he is theres an old saying "dont give out what you cant take"
  14. well I hope he turns up as he didnt last month at Bisley (even when told the date) when I was there shooting 600 yards probably too busy signing books as you say and given shooting instruction to old ladies :o
  15. I hope the OP is still reading this,as according to him his deer dont run
  16. thats great so you extensive experience should tell you to wait after the shot and not barge in like a rutting stag a classic case of "old dogs new tricks"
  17. link not working mate, but I presume it will say the same as many others have said on this post,
  18. have you shot many deer if you read carefully through all the posts there is only 1 person who cannot understand "wiating after the shot" BUT he dosent shoot deer so this topic has been an education for him even though every post by people who shoot deer ststes the excact same thing "wait a while after the shot" the explaination is crystal clear why this is practised and even on the BASC web site is clearly sates "wait at least 5 mins" after the shot now you state "you have never heard such things" do live live on the moon or havnt you shot deer and had the correct training ?? hopefully this popst would have help educate others in the correct thing to do when a shot has be fired and a beast hit, matters not if its ran or fell over on the spot "you still give it time"
  19. if you dont understand now mate when several experienced deer shooters have told you the exact same thing then maybe shooting deer isnt for you
  20. typical responce from someone who doesnt know or understand what there talking about, yes the delay is necessary,as the entire post is about deer thats ran after being shot, the first thing they will do is run for cover the second thing they will do is get back up if they can and run again if something is persuing them, the correct thing to do even if a beast is lying on the floor in full veiw is to "wait a few mins" the time factor will depend on how the beast has reacted to the shot, never presume its dead as a deer can do strange things by waiting a short time or even a long time you are allowing the beast to settle down and will bleed out and die,yes it sounds cruel allowing a beast to wander off wounded BUT its the done thing as you dont want it running and dieing and not being found as it then would be cruel and waste full if you enjoy hunitng you will enjoy shooting deer, sometimes it not even about the shot
  21. obvioulsy you do as you seem to disagree with waiting,or didnt you think before you posted its Ok to make a mistake were only human
  22. why not comment on having a cigar ?? obvioulsy you aint done level 1 or 2 DMQ as there is a question in there somewhere on how long to leave the follow up when a beast has ran,or are you one of these excited types whos on there toes as soon as the beast is on theres do me a favour mate "think about it" read this it may help http://www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practice/deer-stalking.cfm espeically "taking the shot" Mmmmmmmmmm minimum 5 mins the experts say
  23. many thanks for clearing that up as I wouldnt like to think any tom **** or newbie thought it was legal to go and shoot a deer with a 22 hornet, maybe you should make things a little clearer next time that you are humanley dispatching injured deer form near point blank, thats why they fell on the spot
  24. you have shot deer with a 22 hornet,is that legal
