  1. why try to have a dig at me ?? if you have anything to say to me please do it by PM the OP asked "for tack driving accuracy" meaning 1/4 to 1/2 MOA,at the end of the day accuracy kills
  2. if you have afactopry rifle I dought they will be too long as there all made to SAMMI spec, maybe the brass was a little tight, give your chamber a good clean out also the bolt face take a look at Nosler there expensive but pretty good also Norma, you can save the brass on both makes for reloading in the future unfortunatley its going to be a suck it and see exercise, which will drive you mad and empty your wallet by the way if its shoting like a shotgun, best to run through a few checks on the rifle powder fouling (kills accuracy) copper fouling (as above) rings and bases are tight scope isnt faulty all of the above does happen so best to eliminate every variable
  3. what you using the rifle for deer or varmints ?? take a look on the net at all the ammo makers there will usually be info for what twist they recomend, this may save you time and money buy a box and them being like a shotgun
  4. as the man says above MOA with a factory rifle should be doable,I thought you wanted really tight groups "tack driver"
  5. well mate unfortunatly it will "never" be a tack driver using factory ammo as there too inconsistant, what accuracy are you hoping for ?? the only thing you can do is buy a box of each make which is available and try them, problem then being it would be cheaper to give the gun to someone who works loads for rifles by reloading them buy the ammo off them or turn to the dark side and have a go yourself
  6. magnum primers with "ball powder" mate nothing else, unless using a magnum of some sort and then only with a charge over 60 odd grain
  7. yes I did say what you have posted but read it again "I said thought" I missed the "T" off thought but thanks for your reply and appology,I just think "some" AWs takle the urine out of people in order to extract large sums of cash,a mate of mine who is doing his level 2 asked a AW to come onto his land, note his land, offered to pay what the AW wanted, and the AW turned around and told him he would have to pay him a cull fee.so my mate was on his own land shooting his own deer and the AW wanted moneyt for each beast he shot, work that one out by the way I did my level over a couple of weeks with 2 outings,2 beast on one day and 3rd on another both at different places, one with a AW and the other with a CW when you could use one
  8. no good guessing mate, just test it your self its easy enough to do if you have a cleaning rod a tight patch,a pen and a measuring device http://blog.sinclairintl.com/2009/06/09/determining-twist-rate/
  9. what ever, they always say the truth hurts, when someone has nothing to hide matters not what ones says,go figure sorry James for the rubbish some people try to ruin threads with, please report the issue to the mods and they will clean it up for you
  10. thank you at last someone who knows what there talking about in the real world
  11. any large primer will do the job (not magnum) just use what your local shop has in then you wont have to try your load again if you change the primer,I usually use federal 210 match primers but have found Remmington 9.5 to be more accurate if you can get them
  12. hold on one min before you get too excited,I said what "does" happen a AW can right you up without pulling the trigger OR they used to able to,just like you USED to be able to shoot form a high seat.its the stalk the ID that matters not the shot matters not who I used,so there is nothing to clear up and where did I say "I shouted bang" so you right to who ever you like, seems its you thats getting irritated tell me how do you manage deer in a scottish forest, you dont know how many are there you may not see one week to week, you are given a cull "figure" to hit for the year,
  13. hold on a min here show me where i have stated your a rubbish shot,if you cant I will expect an appology.I was actually thinking the only the other day about your dealings with NE you could I said could class yourself as a proffesional stalker seeing you get paid. 200 yards isnt close range by no stretch of the imagination. you have to be good and confident to shoot at any distance, wouldnt you agree hopefully "young hunters" as you out it will do there field testing to see what they are confident with instead of being told 4 inch at 100 is all your need,as you say one day there may be a need to take a long shot,
  14. third eye tactical sound mod 1/2 unf 20 tpi, will suit upto 30 cal,Ive been using it on a 6mm, £175 delivered and its off ticket please PM me if intereted as there too many idiots trying to spoil threads
  15. ideal oppertunity for a pet shop or market trader wild bird food mix 20/30 tons 1 ton bag £400 equates to 40pence per Kilo can discount for larger order, may also sell 25 kilo sacks for £13 the mix is black rape red rape wheat barley millet black sunflower seeds beans peas linseed may be able to arrange delivery for large orders
  16. all the calibers you mention can be reloaded all will be great for foxes and rabbits (head shots if you want the meat) I would go for the 223 as it will do everying the other 2 can do plus you can push it out to serious distance if you wishthe 222 and 223 are suitable for roe deer in scotland munty and chinks in england
  17. the hole will br too big so will let the gasses through so it wont work right, they need to be calibet specific
  18. hold on a min here why is this degenarating ?? we are talking about out experiences,if you dont want to play that fair enough then butt out as to telling the AW what one is going to shoot, ever thopught the AW hasnt been or has any knowlegde of the ground hes been ask to observe on we dont all do tests in parks, and the only reason I can see anyone telling you what to shoot in a park as its easy just to pick any beast and shoot it. where does it say one "has to have a cull plan" go into any forest block in Scotland you are expected to cull any deer on site thats in season,in a park its different
  19. the "Vias" break is classed as one of the best, theres a loy of copies around but they dont work as designed, the ports and exit hole has to be right for it to fubction correctly Vias will send you one direct take a look on there wem site, they do need to be fitted correctly though, the gap from muzzle to the fisrt baffle has to be right so it catches the bullet corrtly when fired, its not just a case of screwing one on I use one there great http://www.muzzlebrakes.com/
  20. its been a while since I did it BUT I have read back through my portfolio and I told the AW what my plans where for the day so I chose what to shoot, its wasnt up to the AW to tell me there only there as an observer
  21. thats an amazing thing to find, are you going to clean the skulls off and keep them or maybe donate them to thw BDS to put on show
  22. a game shoot I go on has a magor ret problem around the farm, the keepers and I go out with semi autos on top of the mule and lamp the *******,its great the record to date is 357 for 700 shots, good job the owners pays for the lead as we can easy shoot 300 shells a night
  23. thats what they usually say in a Park to try and make it a little bit more difficult,if your doing it on wild land so to speak I would be really annoyed having to turn down the only beast that presented itself,no good the AW saying "we this morning I wnt you to take a roe buck with knobbles on its heads" you would be trying to pass for a very long time playing those games
