  1. Ok henry d you have me I am not a keeper in Yorkshire (never been up there) nor to ORKNEY. My friend in the office is ORKNEY GUN not me . We both are shooting people and and own guns. Both members of the same local syndicate. You noticed the same IP address for both (well as I am the boss here and it is my bill... errrr). The true fact though on the 1997 Firearms act over there in the UK is about to be introduced there in so much the part requirement of a nationale computer system data base. This WILL CONTAIN all convictions of those who apply spent or not,Traffic, civil, etc. The latest issue of shooting times I am told as an article in from the BASC regarding objections.read it over there and see.My friend did have a day out whilst there with a member and thanked him pleasant change from pheasant/boar here. Come clean about guns,..well the Zuikis as you say means "Hare" and as it was a rifle...yep HARE RIFLE...(HA! HA!) As for the Remington (spelt Remmington 247) that was another mistake (read Remington .257) which was a birthday present from the family. Might I add here Henry d that you know your guns well my (friend) and will be an asset to the forums..well done you have my admiration there.(Trollfinder General) Is there really a Wentworth near Rotherham? we play a lot of golf over here (I dont James does though) but I have heard of wentworth golf course..ah! well wrong location henry as you spotted but now games up for warm barrels and my office friend James so we will bid farewell to you all..INCIDENTALLY you posted a thread about a previous post a gun picture off the google site etc..WELL THAT WAS NOT US honestly.. we have only posted on here since our respective joining days with you... so WE do not know where that came from not from us over here mate. But before going I will give you details of OUR correct guns that we own James (orkney gun) Winchester semi auto 1400 12g silver pigeon 12g BSA .410. and .257 Remington. Me (warm barrels) Franchi semi auto 12g. Laurona EIBER o/u 12g made here. .257 Remington and old .258 Farewell All warm barrels and orkney gun Bravo "Castilla"
  2. What bait u use "H" .... I like Toasted cheese on a muffin please.
  3. Have you seen the latest issue of "Shooting Times" mag. Well there is an article in there about the proposed National Firearms License set up written by one of the BASC ..bods This is whats proposed and (has been since the 1997 Firearms act came into force ) and the powers that be have not got round to setting up the data base yet, from when it was originally thought up. Our friends at BASC ARE AGAINST CERTAIN ASPECTS OF IT.This may include the facillity to withold licenses from those with convictions. Our Lords may be seen to be "decrepid" at times but we do need tighter control of the guns issue. for all our sake
  4. No claybreaker is an anagram of "Clarey Baker"... one of old m'a Bakers Boys
  5. Spot on Baldrick they are a load of grief for us country folk perhaps they should return to the land of their fathers. The inner cities and leave us alone.Loads of rubbish left, gates stolen, and game taken when they are in the area.Dont want to see them around here camping.
  6. Keep up the terrific good fight

  7. Seems a rather strange request from the police, can see their reasoning though it may help stop them being called out BUT it would as said be a bad idea for shooters as the phone number would as said be engaged/out of action/etc and therefore hinder a days sport.Hope it does not happen there as it may spread eleswhere with disasterous results.
  8. Definately not a troll "markbivvy" although YOU living in Leeds (Yorkshire) and been in SACS seems weired to me...(SCOTTISH PERHAPS?) OR is it just ..."Bash a gamekeeper week" ...and "Warm Barrels" has his turn this week as some fine members on here seem to be doing. Still wise and old enough to take. Perhaps members are not following the topics right as it was my friend orkney gun from Scotland that was with (proTom1) they were shooting pigeon in Lincs somewhere ..IT WAS NOT ME as stated on here by a member ... proTom1 IS a member on here ask him....Ah better not eh? prolongs the debate/discussion/etc.. Nice thought though being a "Troll" or a James Bond type "undercover agent" for some "Anti Brigade". Ah ! to work.... now where did I leave my trench coat.
  9. Wow ! That ruffled some feathers. Looks like we have a lot with opinions and "convictions" to match .Could we have some sort of a "poll" please ... or would I be hung As for my source this was a comment on debate in house of lords last year when it was said that there was to be set up a NATIONAL DATA BASE of license firearms holders within the UK and that at the moment only " County " police firearms units and their County police HQ databse ..hold details of holders in their County ONLY. I did not WISH to make my comment seem HARSH to you all but I belive it would make sense. Yes it would STOP several people from holding a license.Existing holders COULD KEEP THEIRS UNTIL YOU BROKE THE LAW .Yes I have drove over the speed limit...BUT NEVER BEEN CAUGHT (thats the difference) and before you say I am still guilty but never been caught still makes me one of you... Then I say Im lucky .. I keep mine ..You would loose yours ,as you were found guilty and caught. Sorry as you may be now.. reformed you may be now... but still in the eyes of the law a criminal...(nothing personally offensive meant here) .My comment was just a thought on the subject perhaps criminal convictions are common amongst members on here? How many? but I have ruffled some feathers, and shot between some members eyes. I think perhaps if I have .....then I am right...... we do need new law to tighten up the granting of licenses.
  10. To put the thread to rest and to make clear to you .. I am employed on a family run 3400 acre estate owned by an army Colonel in South Yorkshire (location kept private ). The family have extensive interest in woodland/timber and this is spread throughout Britain an area of land covering approx 6000 acres of this some is ocasionaly shot over by the family, and some leased, etc. I included that area of land as I thought it would be of interest to you. But I see that it has only added to your amusment for some and confused others. ALSO ..I am the only keeper here, although I have help ( in exchange for a little shooting ) from a couple lads who live local when needed. My grandfather Walter was keeper here until 1948 as was my father John until 1978 , and I followed them 1978 as I hope will my son James...The credit crunch has bit everyone I expect even my employer the colonel ( NOT Sir Philip ) as mentioned above.I might add that my friend "Archie" would NOT OFFER anyone shooting DEER on HIS EMPLOYERS estate for £1000 ( as much more is paid ) for shooting up there where he is as I am sure that you all are aware. HOPE THIS enlightens you and please forgive spelling mistakes it is not my best subject being a gamekeeper is.
  11. Henry The 2 guns mentioned are :.347 Zuikis and .247 Remington Both these were made to order guns and were bought by a very good friend of mine whilst in South Africa on his employers game reserve. They were made as a one off I think. I used on a day to day bacis my Larona u/o or my Franchi semi auto. As for the others he sold them to me about 3 years ago as the amunition had to be made to order and he was not very interested in doing this any more. The Zuikis is rare and not used much I am keeping it for investment. I apologise for the spelling it is not one of my greatest talents spelling. Hope this enlightens you and answers your questions.
  12. Sounds like there are quite a lot of LICENSE HOLDERS out there WITH CONVICTIONS other than motoring some still as we say are ..NOT old and "SPENT". Perhaps each counties police force interprets them differently, and thats why we need a uniform national license issue center with one standard criteria .... NO CONVICTIONS ..Some Cheif Constables are hard and some soft when it comes to issue. I heard it was comming soon as incidents with firearms are becoming all too regular...CAUSED by mainly by NONE license holders admitted. But Surely in order to keep the "sport of shooting" clean it has to be done.Air weapons... well how about a license for them..will raise a few million for the Govt why should they not pay? surely they can pay a few pounds a year it may keep them out of the unscrupulous hands ..I would suggest however that those who alredy have license keep their entitlement to it AND ALL New aplications should HAVE NO CONVICTIONS as stated spent or otherwise.
  13. Dont be call plod if its your land and they should not be there.Dont approach..especially with the gun..just call plod !
  14. Mine is in an upstairs "Gun Room" wherby all the estates firearms are kept.Re-inforced lined and window bars.Alarm seperate to house.I realise that cost is also a problem but when employer pays and owns the cottage..Well even plod cant argue. Those here are safer than in their place perhaps.
  15. I do NOT want to be a party pooper ..But would it be better to say that anyone with a conviction other than TRAFFIC LAW OFFENCES should be barred regardless of spent convictions from obtaining SGC, FAC,? And when ANY offence is committed the name ID etc of that person barred from entry on the register of holders. That way we keep a clean holders register.
  16. As a keeper with an "urban estate" a couple of miles away, on ones doorstep. You can understand one has to be carefull these days with the possibility of "unwanted trespass with firearms" I have on occasions called "plod" to help interviene where I have been out numbered,or thought it wise to do so, and they have been on the most part great. I would say that if you are polite/reasonable to them they will be likewise back. But remember where firearms are concerned the first priority for them (and yourself) is one of safety. In days gone by when I started my gamekeeping career we had the village policeman who knew all genuine shots, me and the guests, but sadly today we are in another world where the law is conserned.
  17. Mate hope you enjoy your stay with us here
  18. Perhaps a spelling mistake could be GREEN KEEPER ? perhaps
  19. I have shot over our peas here this week for a few hours before breakfast as ours on the estate (6 fields)are also chitting shot about 30 or so..and every year the birds are slow to come off the rape and the tree buds. as they tend to spend some time in the tree tops...Incidentally I learned when I was trainning in Fordingbridge at the old Game Concervancy that they wait for the peas ...to what is called "leaf crack" before attacking them. You do of course get the odd ones around the "spillage areas" as the drill makes mistake that is common. The buds are a temptation for them as they help with digestion juices so be patient and they will attack the peas in a week or so...
  20. They are a little high priced in the shop, but you get GOOD quality goods from them My guns have come from there and no trouble with that dept. You can shoot clays there if you want and the stock is good As a Gun shop OK. ..And yes I am in the locality (Rotherham) about 12 miles away from them but DO think they are good.vast stock too. and as said located out in the wilds near Branston Doncaster.
