  1. ITEMS NO LONGER FOR SALE Sorry have removed these from sale as rules above, as to be advertised on well know auction site Bring on requests to deliver to the moon on a stick for free !!
  2. Hi Shaun Fair point but have had issues both buying and selling on a certain auction site with couriers and damage in transit, hence face to face only. Kept the price as a fair one (IMHO) for the lads n lasses on here, sure could get more on an auction site but will also get bombarded with messages " will you post to the moon " etc ! As you say they are great traps for both club and just a few mates.
  3. Having clear out so looking to sell my Farey Carousel type automatic Clay trap. Not sure of the model number but it is the 240 Volt type so it has bundles of throwing power. These are not new traps but sturdy, well made English traps and not the flimsy old junk you see for sale so often. It has a carousel on the top and guards, is fully automatic and has a long command lead on a drum. It has adjustable height and has ' Renold ' gears - google them for info about reliability. It's not new but in good working condition. The cable has a few nics but nothing to worry about. It is heavy and presently bolted to a pallet, two people can lift it though. It holds 12 stacks so will go for ages without re-loading, perfect for club use of just a few of you (Two of us use it fine). Ready to run but would benefit from a service. Has been kept well greased. Not a lot else to say really so if you have any questions or want specific pictures pm me. It is located in the OX13 post code area (Oxfordshire) and is for the buyer to collect. I am looking for £650, sorry not interested in swaps - trying to clear out much needed space ! This sale is to be conducted in strict compliance with the T's and C's of PW as pinned above.
  4. Excellent, cheers chaps will post up tonight Thanks
  5. Hi HDAV Been here over 5 years ! What's a guy gotta do ? Sorry should have been clearer - doesn't really fit in any of the sections Cheers
  6. Hi All. Hoping for a steer but am having a clear out and looking to sell my trap but cant see where to place it in the ' For Sale', do I list here or elsewhere? Advice greatly appreciated. Cheers
  7. Another thought would be to sell it as a whole, albeit clearly stating it's defects and that it's for parts only ? Is that ' not the done thing ' ? Would there be any liability to consider or equally would this cause problems with the FLO as I'm about up for renewal and wouldn't want to jeopardise that. Any experience of this ? Looked through ' Trading Post ' here but all for sale are fully working.
  8. Cheers all, do you think its worth a call to the FLO just to see ?
  9. I have an old (80's) WInchester Model 101 12 guage that developed a bulge in one of the barrels !! Naturally, just sat in the cabinet and not used since I noticed it. I want to know if I can sell this off in parts as some are hard to find in teh UK and it might help someone out who has a battered one - things like stocks and forends are notoriously hard to find even in the USA. Is this permitted and if so how do I go about this keeping the FLO happy ? Advice greatly received cheers
  10. If it was road legal and some stage as suggested by the remnants of a reg plate it sould also have a tax disk somewhere which may give you the full reg of it. I would guess a call to DVLA with this might help ? As Highbird said there shoudl also be a chassis plate on my Honda its more liek a tag than a car vin plate under the body panels affixed to the frame. Ask the seller for the V5 etc ? As for the penalty well I guess they woudl take it off you so you loose what ever you spend on it as a minimum, not sure if you would be charged with an offence but of you were any gun or FA licencing would be troublesome I feel ! A quad for moving gear over the fields is awesome, less time lugging and more time shooting.
  11. @ Kegs : Cheers mate loads of work went into her .....the new project is....... a Polaris Ranger. We have just got a load more land about 1000 acres which we used now and again but have now got sole rights for a year (for a fee). We are planning to get small amount of partridges, some clay and lamping/stalking going on and feel that this will be the next step up. As we (between us) have several shoots that are spread across the county (Oxfordshire) with some at opposite sides we can only afford 1 shoot vehicle so need something that covers all bases and can be towed depending on where we go. We did consider keeping the quad and buying cheap 4x4 and leave it at the new shoot but ther farmer wasnt happy about it being left there and has had bad experiences with landies being used on his land before. He was happy for a quad to be used and also for a Polaris size vehicle. @Martin & Oakley : Good suggestion bud, one we did consider soem time back. I think had we been keeping it we would definatly have done something along those lines. As you can see from the pic below, it would be easy to do as due to the colours of the quad you would only need to camo the back where you stand to maintain cover as the quad blends in nicely ( small hide behind in pic). The indicators on teh front are the only 'obvious' item yet this is a small trade off I feel for having the quad Road Legal. It's on a V5 as a Light Agricultural Vehicle so it is free road tax and no formal MOT required - bonus. Is there a For Sale section on PW ? Seen some reminders not to advertise in this section so am a little confused. I dont really want to put it on flea-bay as feel it woudl be better appreciated by a true hunter/shooter. I will be getting it in some shooting mags too.
  12. Well still not made any enhancements but have finally managed to get some time out ! This is when it really comes into it's own :- And room for one more ! Think she's gotta go......the co-owner convinced me on another project !
  13. LOL I kinda agree but...... or :- I know which Id choose A real benefit is when you set up and there is not much about so you can easily and quickly move elsewhere and like I started with we do a lot of lamping so it really helps.
  14. Hi Alex Just my thoughts but me and a mate **** about with a cheapo jap or Chinese quad that had electrical issues and ended up getting rid. We are not electrically trained so be mindful of that when reading ! After struggling to id even the make and then the engine/model number it took an age to find spares for it. Eventually did (have link if you need it) and ended up spending a fair bit (more than we paid for the quad). In the end we sold it a got a honda foreman and never looked back. I know these are dearer but they are solid, powerful and spares readily available a reasonably priced. There are usually some old uns on the bay if you are patient. Even old high mileage ones can be fixed up and it is a damn site easier to fix up a Honda rather than an un-known jap one. What we did learn was that many un named ones are honda engine clones but everso slightly different. These are just our experiences and I don't wanna start a big debate with folks on here about whats good and whats bad..there are some top jap quads out there that are cheaper than hondas but that is for a reason! Also hondas etc also go wrong so its a personal call. We found that it was hassle getting bits even once ID the model and that we were in danger of spending a lot of money refreshing a quad of limited value and questionable durability IMHO. Re-sale value of even an older honda (I would expect) be better than a similar age/condition jap one. Do you know what model you have ?
  15. Again cheers for the help. Only worry with the hoop/frame idea is that you may be limited on floor area in the hide as the trailer just takes the quad. Had considered this a while back yet recently thought of fixing poles to one side of the quad so you stand on the ground with trailer behind a kinda canopy affair off the side We could then use the trailer(which will be covered if poles are on other side to store stuff on. As this is jointly owned between me and mate the hide needs to be big enough for two and a dog. Suggestions very welcome as wanna make this once and not keep changing it!! HDAV cheers for the can holder link....handy site now bookmarked. Looking at it and remembering co owner is a blacksmith......... I feel he has a late night coming on!!
  16. Good ideas Ace but one of the key factors is being able to store the trailer on it's backside (upright) so it fits down the side of the house. We have a small tough plastic trolley that it sits on and so is easy to move so unless the jerry can was well fixed it may be an issue. The spare trailer wheel is a top shout and this will not effect the storage at all. Not sure about he jockey wheel as don't really use the trailer that way. Have been thinking about being able to use the trailer someway as part of a hide as in variably we get in the field and the trailer is left so why not try and use it ? Been told that we cant rig up a kettle or mini fridge from the quad 12v output to a box in the trailer or we will never be spoken to again by the rest of our shooting mates....bet they wouldn't say no to a brew, cold tinny or steaming hot pot noodle in the field tho  Anyone any suggestions about using it as part of a hide or even seen this done ? Cheers
  17. So this is the the complete item (save for few minor tweaks). It has a purpose made black aluminum trailer that is both strong and light. The trailer can be easily stored on its end so takes up little space and as its ali it is very very easy to maneuver by hand. As its purpose made the quad fits on exactly and it still provides a huge amount of carry space when the trailer is on the back of the quad (poles hides, guns, bags decoys, magnets, dogs and other shooters if need be !) It has fitted ramps that fold down. These were added as loose ramps were a pain so these fold down once a retaining clip is removed and the quad can be driven straight on. Cant see from the pics but the light board also fits to the ramps when towing on the road. Our plan was to make shooting as easy as possible so we ride the quad on to the trailer, tow the trailer to the shoot, ride the quad off and hook the trailer to the quad...simples. Any suggestions to improve this greatly appreciated as the project seems to keep evolving!
  18. Cheers for the comments. Braking and stability are no probs at all, believe me we have tested this !! With the front seat occupied and a rider (IE no one on back) it is very very stable, if not a bit un-nerving 1st time out, it is even more stable with someone on the back. Three works well for stability also one shoots, one rides and the man on the back is the lamp man so it's perfect (IMHO). You literally just brake as normal it doesnt seem to effect it. The front seat is pretty far back and the seat slopes back slight so it pushes you backwards. Also the foot rest is sized so that your legs are slightly bent which ' braces ' you into position. For bunny blasting I am yet to find a better tool, it goes anywhere, gets there fast and with twin back boxes doesn't spook them at all. Let off 2 barrels of the 12 and spooked a load and one even ran into the side of the quad its that quiet. The front and back seats are fitted such that they are easily removed leaving the original Honda racks ready for use but to be honest we tend to leave the seats on. Will post up some more pics with the trailer etc when I get 5mins
  19. Hey guys Not been on these boards for awhile as have been shut away tinkering with the quad. So thought Id show you the fruits of our toils. Its a Honda 450 Foreman manual which is on agg' registration so can be used on the road. Me and shooting buddy got a while back and set about making it a tool for pigeon shooting and bunny bashing with lamps. Front seat is off and on with two bolts as not sure what the Gendarm would make of it so we only use it off road. We have an aluminum (uber light) trailer that is inch perfect size for the quad (handy when your shooting buddy is a blacksmith!) and can also be towed on the back of the quad across fields with all the gear for a day on the pigeon. So pigeon days it easily seat 4 and trailer takes all the gear. Also use it for bunnies lamping in evenings and it is awesome, fitted second back box so is very quiet, but also very fast and will go through almost anything. The seats on front and back are thick stiff foam and had an upholsterer cover them so its very comfortable and just pressure wash the whole thing down when done. Just a pair of kolpin double racks to be fitted and then complete. Comments / suggestions welcomed Dirtboy From mobile at night !
  20. Ok guys here's one for any Chinese quad owners !!! Me and a shooting mate have happened upon a beat up old dog of a chinese quad for very very little money - there is a reason it was co cheap I here you cry. Here is the full spec as we know : 2 wd, chinese, unknown make, unknown model, water cooled 200 cc! Long story short it has been stripped right down (what was left of it) and now sits with the motor in the frame which we can get to run and fire with some bodge job wiring. When we got it we were told that the regulator/rectifier was missing. We are now planning to get it running for purely off road so are looking at having : 2 x lights, 1 x cigarette lighter (for lamp and fags). As we have next to no loom for it we are planning to try and wire it up very simply ourselves to provide the above and get the electric start and battery charging to work. As we have no knowledge of auto electrics between us can anyone give us some guidance or point to some good web resources as my googling has just confused me!! Currently my understanding is that the two leads from the fly wheel are to connect to the regulator/rectifier yet where it goes from there is a chuffing mystery??? If anyone has any knowledge of quad wiring it would be very gretafully appreciated. Am I right in thinking that regulators/rectifiers are not model specific but cc specific ? Thanks in anticipation
  21. I have been using a Falcon Prarie FP-25MW for the past couple of years and can fault it save for the magazines. If you go second hand its worth spending +/-£25 on a new mag as mine came with plastic which have now been replaced with metal versions that are much better. Note that you need a minor tweak of the crown wheel for these to work fine but its a few minutes works really. Customer service is beyond belief - they are willing and quick to email or ring you back to help anyway they can and even sent me some bits n pieces FOC !!! Cant rate em highly enough mate, good value for money and Made in Blighty so ticks my boxes. Also a good forum for falcon owners where you will get loads of help
  22. Hi All. Just in the throws of applying for FAC ticket and have spoken to the owner of one of my permissions. I didnt get a " Yes " or " No " more a " I need to know more about it " kinda response. I have explained my reasons for needing an FAC which were agreed with yet the owner still needs some more info on the process of application etc. The owner is (rightfully so) very protective over their land and I think if I could email them some info on what is likely to happen when the FLO visits the land (not cleared already so will be required) it will become a definate " Yes ". I have searched and searched this and many other forums, google and BASC site all with little sucess. Has any seen/got any good articles that explain the process etc from the land owners piont of view Cheers
  23. I just got some Crag-Hoppers lined trousers which are spot on although not sure how water proof if at all . Comfy, tough, warm and plenty of decent pockets all for £25 on sale usually £45 I think
  24. Got one myself and love it, only minor 'gripe' is that the chokes are fixed but its only on occaision that I think of it. Other than that I love it and use it for rough shooting as opposed to clays . Like the others have said it all depends on price and condition but IMHO they are ' bullet-proof' if you pardon the pun! Spares can be a prob if ever needed as most seem to be in the USA. What model is yours ??
  25. i agree..get another 101 a propper one :hmm:
