  1. My family live by Hopton. Gun shops seem few and far between. Wildfowler friendly ones anyway. There are a lot of suffolk / norfolk clubs in the area, maybe ring one?
  2. Thanks for comments. I could have edited out the misses but thought I would give a true reflection.
  3. Some footage of this mornings shoot. Pouring with rain for most of it but nice to be out again. I get a lot of comments on YouTube as to why I shoot crows and have given a couple of reasons in the vid. I got comments on another vid at how rubbish my hide building skills are, and I should have tree branches around it and gorse etc. I shoot up on a moorland and there are no trees or gorse. Its almost barren. Constructive criticism is always welcome though! Thanks
  4. to be fair, I haven't used it lots. I have no issue with steel shot. Its effective and I don't put loads of shells through the gun every year, so happy to use it in an older gun.
  5. Thanks for comments. It was one of the rare trips when everything went right. Luckily I had the camera.
  6. It's bored out to half and half . Number two
  7. Some footage of my recent trip to Scotland. Weather started off stormy but fizzled out to no wind at all at end of week. The numbers of birds were definitely building as the week went on. I did have a permit for Montrose but after a group of guns walked right through the roosting birds before first light on day 1, I decided I wasn't going to waste a week and headed out to the estuary. http://youtu.be/l2XKsxv6-XY
  8. Steel was rubbish in this country at the start. The yanks have different rules regarding cartridges. However, they are much better now. Or reload your own. Far superior.

    Stay away from Des Chochrane
  10. Really good. Not had a blank flight yet. (I've ruined it now!) Got some great video which I will upload when I get back. Not so many geese as previous years but that gale force wind yesterday left over from the hurricane kept the geese in range.
  11. Im up in Scotland, chasing geese on the estuaries. Long drive from the Devon / Cornwall border. You know the dog I knacked when she cant even make it to her bed!
  12. Not normally the sort of thing I would watch, but that was interesting.. Thanks for posting.
  13. With a full moon and high tide at 6am, I was not expecting to see many geese. A nice flight developed and we had a heavy walk home!
  14. A morning on the marsh is not all about the shooting, but being there and watching the marsh come alive. A few geese are moving at this time of year, so we had a venture out. With a late tide, they didnt move till a lot later, after most people had gone home. All birds were retrieved and I was using gamebore mammoth cartridges. A surprise at the end keeps the dog on her toes. !! You may need to click settings on youtube and play HD for best picture. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXRM3AS-iXQ
  15. It's actually the sxp pump. I painted it myself.
  16. Thanks for the comments. I need to get out shooting more as didn't go much last season.
  17. Both ducks retrieved. Second duck dropped, feet in air but a long way out. The tide was incoming. We took the pic,and waited for it to come a bit closer before a retrieve. Didn't film it as thought it a bit boring for a short vid!
  18. First bird was about 40 yds. I took three shots as missed with first two.! Second birds had three shots and I shot them both.? Camera does make it seem far away. On the duck first shot, it looks a fair distance but when plucking it, the shot had passed straight through it.
  19. First flight of the season. The dog worked brilliantly, my shooting was rusty at best. Did get a left and right (with one barrel?) though, despite the camera only catching one retrieve. The camera was away when the geese came over. Although warm, it was just nice to be on the marsh, listening to the birds, watching the tide race in, and seeing a flight of ducks. A bird in the bag is a bonus.
  20. Mine is only 3 inch chambered. But no problems at all.
