all country sports, especially stalking and fishing.<br>also as im a student i love spending tax payers money for stalking equipment
  1. how do you find these rounds, i gave them a go through my tikka, i didnt find they were as accurate as federals. but my biggest issues was that i had a miss-fire with a core lokt round. when i emailed remington i had no come back, so decided not to purchase anymore. have you had any issues with them. younggun
  2. i have a friend who went through avalon guns, street, somerset. i was told they are exellent giving good deals if your spending proper money, which you will be if your buying sauer. the got him a delux stock 202 he raves about them!
  3. i have only ever used a 243 and have had no problems! iv taken big fallows bucks and roe bucks out at 154 metres and never had a problem! i prefer to neck shot so a 100 grain bullet in the neck will take down most game! iv stalked big cornish reds with a 243, i never got the shot but had absolute confidence he would have been dropped. younggun
  4. im seeing deer every where of late! its not until people get their 'eye in' that they notice them. my girlfriend is abit of a towny lass, but after years of me pointing things out to her, she now points deer out to me. i often see roe deer just outside houseing estates in gloucestershire when i go up and down the m5. but iv found the best way to see deer is the trains. i use them once every 2 weeks and they are everywhere. being a nice chatty lad i always point out the deer to people on the train and they are stunned to see them. down here in plymouth its just as bad, when im going back home i always see the same little herd of roe just outside plymstoke which is a very large populated area. younggun
  5. a beast like that its about right! a couple that size are shot every year up where i stalk, big old lads! the animals are really big but the head are not as good as your big guy.not sure i would like to eat him. last time i asked the vension in my area was around 70-75p a pound! but i new a guy down here just inside cornwall that was offered 35p a pound for a red hind! disgusting isnt it younggun
  6. i hate the running off to. i shot a similar beast late march! hes weighed out at 120 lbs dressed, so a big chap! i use a 243 he went down a on the spot with a 96 meters neck shot. all the fallow i shoot are in the neck, i never take a shot unless im 110%, so iv never had a problem. younggun
  7. well at uni i roast a joint in red wine, garlic and thyme. cover the joint in foil and roast for 25 mins a pound then 15 extra uncovered. i love it like this and so do my house mates. its even better the next day cold in sandwiches with red currant jelly younggun
  8. thanks dave im very proud of this chap! i didnt even leave 5 metres from the car! 154 metres across the valley younggun
  9. hope this works i shot this chap on monday evening i was wondering if he is worth measureing! the skull is cut below the eye socket to the top of the nose, and he still weighs 498 grms. each antler is over 23 cms and an inside span of 12 cm! is he a medal buck? younggun
  10. use soda crystals in the boiling water helps break down the fats in the flesh, i promise its well worth it
  11. my friends at uni think im 'a right toff' as i never buy chicken, i have pheasants instead and i always have venison in my freezer! they love venison sandwiches now! i eat as much of what i shot as possible my parents always have venison that i have shot as do my girlfriends parents! game is organic free range and total delicious
  12. i shot my first roe buck on tuesday evening, i was very pleased and proud and want the antlers for a trophy! but can anyone tell me how to saw the head without ruining it, as i dont have a sawing of jig? i also have an enormous fallow head to do! so any tips would be helpful cheers younggun
  13. just seen four swallows coming through! seemed to be in a hurry! this is in gloucestershire
  14. ''A bit of a tough one there. The trouble with these uni places is that there is a percentage of soap dodgers with their twisted sixth form political views that don't face upto real life. A breeding ground for antis. If you have witnesses get them to speak up now while it is all still fresh.'' hay we are all bad! i know a number of people at my uni which are pro countryside sports! i have also been very impressed with the amount of understanding and exceptance my fellow students have given to me! iv found people to be very understanding when you properly inform them of what you do or are doing! as unis are busy places may it of been not the best time you were conducting the cull! possible an early morning? on way to uni just 5 mins ago i saw 5 or 6 magpies myself so i understand the need to kill those horrid birds what those idiots did to you was wrong and you should go down the correct channels, but please dont be to keen to judge students, because that is just what the antis are doing to us! pre- judgeing
