  1. Thanks Smiiithy Done: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...howtopic=106257
  2. Hello Looking for a bit of advice, ideally from someone who has actually done this job. I live in a new house, it's got the dreaded plasterboard and dabs on thermalite blocks. My original plan for fitting the gun cabinet was to cut out an area of the plasterboard, clean up the surface and bolt the cabinet directly onto the blockwork. However, this is i) messy ii) will take up too much beer time and iii) I reckon there must be a easier way, I mean there always is........... isn't there? I am aware that Thermalite is not the easiest material to drill into (as it just disintegrates) and that expansion bolts are likely to just split the block. So, if any of you have experience and advice that may help me, I will forever be grateful
  3. Well what a nice welcome, thank you all Stuart - I had thought about the resin type anchors, but how did you stop the plasterboard from crushing in when you tightened your bolts up Did you wind a nut down flush with the plasterboard and resin that in place?
  4. Where does it say anything about hounds and that they where on horse back?
  5. I have been looking recently and have been impressed by the Winchester Select 2 (without the silly topcoat finish) A brand new one will leave you with at least £50 change from your grand. You might want to take a look at Fausti, these seem well made and good value. Otherwise, as said above.
  6. @Mungler - It would be possible to shoot two people with one shot if they are standing "line astern" or just very close to each other.
  7. 2nd that (hope they are ok.) I can't help wondering though. Why the hapless person who "accidentally discharged his shotgun" was arrested? Unless there's something amiss, then why aren't people who "accidentally" injure others during other sporting activities not routinely arrested?
  8. Hi For what it's worth, I'd keep it I guess it really depends on how you value the gun financially. I mean, if you need to sell it to raise money towards a replacement then that changes things. As with all sports, we all go through bad patches from time to time. With shooting it could be something as daft as suddenly starting to have to wear a coat! I know from personal experience however, that I have sold guns in the past that I'd wished I'd kept. So, keep it if you can
  9. Hello one and all I am not from Notts but I am in the process of re-obtaining (made up word) my SGC. Like many I guess, I came to a point in my life a while ago when it was appropriate to sell my guns and take a break from shooting. Well that lasted about 7 years I used to own a Beretta 687 30" M/C Sporter for the clays and a nice little side by side Zabala SLE (single trigger) for the pigeons. Like many of you no doubt, I built up a pile of kit which was all donated to good homes when I packed up before. So I'm in the market for a nice sporter to get me started. I quite like the look of the Browning 525 and would welcome any views on this. Also (I live in Solihull) any suggestions for a good place to buy from, or perhaps (if rules permit) the places to avoid. Oh yes............ I have my cabinet, but I live in a new property (plasterboard dabbed onto thermalite blocks) any advice ref fixings that work first time would be appreciated. Cheers Paul
