  1. The best gun for you will be the one you feel most comfortable with. Take a trip upto Lampeter and see what suits. You certainly have a good budget so you should have no problems finding a good piece of kit
  2. Is that finish like the Winchester "Top Coat" or is it natural?
  3. Look forward to seeing the pictures. Not seen one of those for a while
  4. You will probably need to see them and try them on to see if they are worth more. They are "finer" and less bulky.
  5. Another vote for Aigles here, most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I have owned mine for 15 years although they have only been used regularly for about 5 years. They have endured a fair amount of walking although not heavy use to be fair. But they are still going strong
  6. Welcome Lewis  You could get yourself started by tracking down a copy of John Humphries book "Shooting Pigeons" Only while you wait to get some hands on advice from the gents on here.
  7. Is this story true........... oooh sorry wrong thread, certainly don't want any proof  I did have a particularly viscous attack of the squits after a suspect ****** a few years ago. I was just pleased that bath was close to the bog if you get my meaning.
  8. We would not be able to afford it mate.
  9. The idea of "credit ratings" have been around for hundreds of years, it's certainly not an American idea. However the use of computer based information for the purpose may well be. The problem is, credit ratings are often based on whimsical probabilities and to some extent on fear, often therefore they are neither fair or sensible. For example your postcode can affect your rating. As many will know, your property address may have old records against the previous owner; getting divorced will seriously affect your rating as will changing jobs and so on. This is where companies like Experian may be able to help, they can help clear the mis-understandings and clear up your records. But you need to fully understand their offer and read the "small print" Of more interest however is the risk, all activity on your credit history may be viewed with some suspicion. For example, just getting a few quotes for a loan can put an alert on your record. The assumption being that you're trying to get a number of loans set up rather than just looking for the best deal! The real problem is the lack of personal contact, like there used to be with your Bank Manager for example. For some this has meant easy credit and for others it mean no credit or a facility at high levels of interest.
  10. For the clays; in the hide or roost shooting I tend to keep about 10 in my pocket and refresh from a bag. In fact I do the same whatever shooting I do Tried a cartridge belt, but I found I had to be very careful so as not to rub the gun stock against the shells.
  11. At £400 for mostly clays, of those listed I'd go with the Lanber or possibly Miruko. Ideally a multi choke sporter though
  12. That's fantastic news and well done!! As you will know now, it does get easier as each week passes by The trick now is to keep in mind that you must not fall into the trap of thinking that one ciggy won't hurt you. IT WILL!!! I strongly believe (even now after 18 years) that if I had just one cigarrette, I would start again. I don't care if it's not actually true, I REALLY believe it, I find it helped me. However, tobe honest I have not wanted a ciggy for possibly 17 years or more now. How do you wean yourself off the drugs now though? I opted to stop with "no crutches" and yes I did put weight on, but I am fairly sure I would have anyway (I was early 30's when I stopped) And you can always loose weight, loosing a lung or two is not so easy to get around. Give yourself a little treat every now and then using the money you would have spent.
  13. The whiplash would need to have been medically certified on the day, or close to the day of the accident. Otherwise it could have happened due to another incident that may (or may not!) have occured at anytime in the intervening 11 weeks. My advice is to pass this to your insurance company now, although I can hear them saying "It's nothing to do with us" Let them deal with it if they will, and if they do, make sure as others have said that you get your £541 back.
  14. Tell me, is it OK for a straight man to tell another straight man his ring looks great? ............... no? thought not, I'll get my coat then Seriously, best of luck to you
  15. Beretta's tend to shoot a little high (or at least they used too) That might be why you're missing close up? My last gun was a Beretta and I now have a Browning and that's my excuse in any case Any chance of firing a few off at a test plate to determine this for you?
  16. The MK38 is a cracking gun, used and loved by 1000's of happy owners. Good luck with your purchase
  17. As a general rule 32" barrels are for Trap shooting or similar. Most people I know use 28-30" for Sporting clays and 30/28 or shorter barrels on game guns. However, to some degree it depends on your overall stature - weight/height etc and what feels best for you. The MK 38 is a bit barrel heavy IIRC, the 32" version (I assume) is even more so. Some like that balance others don't, you'll only know by trying out the various options and seeing which suits best. You'd be welcome to try my 30" Sporter if you are close by?
  18. There was one in the "For Sale" section when I was looking there yesterday. Might be sold now.............. worth a look? EDIT: Here - http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...howtopic=106474
  19. Happy Birthday - perfect planning! It's always good to have a Birthday on a Friday
  20. Sorry - having problems with photobucket
  21. If you're the Worcestershire Hanbury, try this: http://www.surplusandadventure.com/shop/ar...ack-359137.html
  22. Smiiithy I had a 130 a few years back. As you (and others) say, they go like stink! Particularly at motorway speeds. However, they also understeer like crazy and that drove me mad! I tried a 150 and to be honest there's really little difference on the road in terms of actual performance. On the chipping front - Don't bother with the plug in units. They simply don't work, all mine did was set off the ECU light all the time! If you really must get the engine re-mapped, go to APS in Brackley. Top blokes, really know their stuff. Be sure to remember to tell your insurers though, yes? Like others have said - don't ignore the Skodas, they are superb.

  24. Credit where it's due. Put my application in the post on the 25th November. Got a call from West Mids FLD on the 1st Dec "When can I come around?" He called as agreed on the next day. He said he was off on leave until next Thursday (today as I write) and he expected that all the paperwork would be completed by then. Spoke to him earlier today, and he's popping around in about 10 minutes with my spangly new SGC. So allowing for posting the application, that's a clear 14 days. Is that a record? So, well done Bob Faulkner and the staff at West Mids FLD. Tip top service in my opinion :(
