  1. 28 gr 7.5 = 400 shot 28 gr 8 = 450 shot So more than 10% extra
  2. If you feel nerves setting in take a few deep breathes and think positive. Stare the clays to death. Don't lose sight of the clay. Keep calm.
  3. Link to dates? Are there any shoots in Essex or reasonable driving distance?
  4. You are likely in front of it and may also be shooting over it. Shoot the rabbits feet off and don't get too far ahead if the rabbit.
  5. Yes, Denmark is expensive :( Shooting clays isn't too bad, but the amount I shoot costs :( Out of interest - have you booked with one of the pro's? Either way have fun. I'll likely be out shooting morning sometime.
  6. Only Compak Sporting, Olympic Skeet, Olympic Trap plus a few other layouts. No English Sporting or FITASC I'm afraid. But there are 3 Compak Sporting layouts with plenty of traps and programs. You should go
  7. I'm with you Cat. Why isn't Compak supported by the CPSA? It's a popular discipline on the continent and it turns out the Brits are good at it. Why not give it a go and see what happens?
  8. Typically, but usually the European and World will have refs there. At the World in Cyprus most of the refs were from Cyprus.
  9. I shot the Compak Sporting WC in Cyprus as well. An absolute pleasure watching George, Jamie and Cheryl shooting and a fantastic result in particular for George and Cheryl. I only shoot Compak and love it. However I live in Denmark where I can't shoot FITASC or sporting. Compak Sporting is popular because of the fact that a Compak layout doesn't take up much land. From what I understand Compak is similar to Sportrap but Compak can be more close range than Sportrap. The rules were recently changed allowing a hosting organization to choose whether to do the traditional max 6 person squad or to use the new method which will allow far more shooters in the same time a 6 person squad would use. Hasn't been used yet but it will be interesting to see whether it will give more entries.
  10. Stick to the one gun and if you want to shoot competition I'd go for the O/U. Doesn't George Digweed have several guns with him when he shoots competitions? If not separate guns then surely different length barrels?
  11. What Ed said.. It does also sound like fatigue and loss of concentration/focus though. You shouldn't be thinking about scores, end results. Instead you just keep staring every single bird to death. Easier said than done, but that's where Ed's advice comes in.
  12. I usually shoot steel 8's and they break just fine. If it's far out I'd use a 7. We have a clay rabbit at my club with 14 holes in it. Don't know the size though.. No less than 8 though.
  13. If anyone is up for a short trip to Copenhagen then Copenhagen Compak Sporting Grand Prix takes place June 23-24. There are cash prizes for top 3 shooters and prizes for 4-6'th place in 3 categories (Elite, A nd B - depends on your end result after 200 clays) I live in Copenhagen and am a member of the club hosting the Grand Prix (KFK - www.claytarget.dk). The club has 3 fixed Compak Sporting layouts, but usually converts one of the Olympic Skeet layouts so that the Grand Prix can use 4 Compak layouts. We would like more international shooters to participate, so I suggested posting to the PW forum If your interested check out the invitation which can be found at http://www.compaksporting.dk /stark [EDIT] I forgot to mention that lead cartridges are illegal to use or possess without special permission from the authorities, so you would have to use steel cartridges which can be bought at the club. Also - the Grand Prix is not a FITASC event.
  14. Results from day 1 are up. You'll find them here http://www.tavfoligno.com/results.html
  15. We've got 3 Compak layouts in Copenhagen.. About £4 a round. Open Wednesday to Sunday. Bit expensive on fuel though
  16. I always shoot bottom barrel first. I can also feel the difference if I by accident switch to top barrel. Not sure if it's muzzle flip or the constriction of the choke, but I can always tell something was different. I shoot compak sporting and 1/4 bottom 1/2 top. I'm in Tallinn now for the EC and have seen a number of shooters changing chokes to more open chokes, because the targets are very close. I would usually go for 1/2 and 1/2.
  17. Great! Thanks for your advice. If I can I'll go for the Bornaghi or RC 4's
  18. Yeah, I shoot too much Course it's fun shooting a lot, but I would be better off spending more time training with coaches instead
  19. I'm based in Copenhagen so a trip over to Sweden would do come to think of it.. But I'll have a few days training before the comp so should get a bit of practice with the lead I've shot Hull in Essex and they were soft, but unfortunately they aren't available.
  20. Wish I could, but I live and shoot in Denmark and we can't shoot lead over here. That's why I need your advice
  21. Not about pain. It's about being able to pick up the target should I miss it with the first shot. I'm not heavily built and find heavy loads make it harder for me to pick up targets on the second shot. I shoot 20 - 30k a year and don't have a problem mounting and therefore no pain no matter the load. It's simply a matter of picking up targets with a steady gun
  22. I'm shooting a competition in Tallinn in a few weeks and I need some advice on the available cartridges at the range. I've only shot lead in a few competitions, so I'm not familiar with lead cartridges. I usually shoot Gamebore steel White Gold 28 gr, 8s. I'm not a fan of heavy recoil, so I'd like to use one of the softer cartridges Do you have experience with any of these cartridges?: Gamebore White Gold Original Gamebore Black Gold F2 RC 4 Champion Excellence RC 4 Red Shot Super Nik Clever GrandItalia Nobel Sport Italia NS Quattro Nobel Sport Italia Sporting Bornaghi Sporting Medium Bornaghi Sporting Short Range Bornaghi Sport
  23. It's also worth mentioning that newish guns and guns that recently have had stock modifications can become very greasy and slippery when it's warm because the oils start to come out of the wood.
  24. Which MacWets? Shooting, Golf, tactical?
