Sam, Thanks very much for that mate. Mancub.

I had our 10 plate 110 in over a month ago at Colchester complaining that the handbrake wasn't holding properly; they conducted the work in accordance with the recall notice we recieved 3 days ago so i suspect the issue has been ongoing for some time prior to them capitulating and getting the fleet of defenders in. We've always had LR's both new and approved and always had fairly decent service, however, Colchester is the pits !!! Promised callbacks which never materialise, never got a courtesy car available for months. Anyone else had any probs with their local LR dealer or is it just me and Colchester??

Right gang, I've been working like an aussie on the river kwai studying the DSC manual that BASC sent me; i'm about ready to book a course and will be working from Dorset for the forseeable future. Anyone know of a decent school in the area?? Anyone up for letting me accompany them for the additional experience; i've heard the course delivers the basics but you don't perform any live gralloching etc... I have a military background so am not going to trip up over your wire haired pointer and tangle my dayglo anorack on every barbed wire fence. Cheers lads/lasses. Mac.

Cheers Pipmoff, I'm leaning toward having a bash at this for the simple fact you mention: If the couplings are notoriously dicey, i may as well get rid of the potential problem now. Cheers Pal.

I hear you. If it snows we will roll out the Defender and eat up that white stuff. The wife had a freelander years ago when the TD4 came out and she liked it so when we saw this at a reasonable price it seemed like a viable option. If i can save pennies by reducing running costs it may be worth a go but not knowing enough about the subject of converting to 2WD i thought i'd get some advice from the gang. We'll see. Suffice it to say i'll let you all know what i do and how it turns out.

drut, Mfletch; Thanks for the response. I'm in two minds as to do this so might ask the insurance company what the impact will be before i give it any more thought. I'm deffo interested if it will save on the fuel pennies and wear and tear though. Cheers again. Mancub.

Help please !! I have just bought the wife an old freelander which is a few years old but only had 38K on the clock. Having looked on the site which will remain nameless for a couple of wiper blades and bulbs, I stumbled across an IRD blanking plate which effectively turns the motor into a 2WD and claims reduced wear and tear and fuel consumption (I have to remove the prop and viscous coupling, take off the transfer pinion and fit a blanking plate). As the car is only for dog walking and to keep the mileage down on the defender, it will never use 4wd in anger. Has anyone any experience of this conversion? Is it worth doing? Could it damage the car? I would be grateful of any feedback. Regards, Mancub.

For sale are my Disco II seat cover set. They are Britpart covers. Grey in colour and fit all 5 of the 7 seats; they even have individual headrest covers. In Great condition however have down/up graded (Depending on your penchant) for a Defender so these are no longer any good. I reckon they would cost about £15 - £20 to post so £60 all in. If you want them and want to save the postage - collect from Colchester £40. Cheers, Any picture required let me know and i'll get some out to you, failing that have a google for Britpart seat covers. Regards, Mac.

Darren, Have you still got the car mate. I told my dad that i'd been looking at it and he's seriously interested, as in, i'm sure he'll have it. I know it's been a while but let me know. Regards, Mac.

If that's what Miroku Dave and his navigator want: I am happy to give you £20 toward your £200 on the proviso that: Dave gives us regular updates on his quest (I know you can get Inmarsat through the RAF) and that we (PW'ers) drum up the rest - Call it charity by proxy. Miroku Dave - over to you pal. Regards Mac. PS: every time i've had dealings with you lot, you've thrown me out of your planes (Literally). Good Luck.

Good Stuff mate. Hope you're happy with it. Mac.

Gareth, I'll definately be able to find you one. I know i've got an old (Not condition, just not worn for ages) SAS windproof smock with woolen cuffs sewn on (Same cuffs as the Para smocks are issued with). It'll be more like £25 posted though mate because the postage costs £5 and it is a much better smock. If you are interested let me know and i'll post it at the end of the month as i'm off up t-North for my brother's wedding and to catch up with family after getting back from Afghan a couple of weeks ago. Regards pal. Mac.

Sorry mate, i didn't leave my number; 07970 451150 cheers mate, mac.

She'll be ideal for my mum and dad. My only concern is when i visit with my springer and wife's 2x dalmations. Our dogs are great with other dogs, just wonder what your little princess is like with other dogs??? Is this something we will work out via the comedy medium of alpha dog syndrome or is it going to pose a problem. let me know your opinion and if you think your little girl will stand a visit from other dogs she will have a great home. Regards, Mac.

Red, I have always wanted one of these gorgeous dogs. I can promise a warm and welcome home, however having 3 already can only offer you a couple of hundred pounds. if you get stuck, which i very much doubt looking at the photos, i will gladly give one of your dogs a lovely home with a great working spaniel and a very lazy domesticated dalmatian. Thanks mate, Mac,
