It is one thing trying to claim the moral high ground Mike, but it doesn't wash. So you claim that you are NEVER without your gun unless it is locked in your safe? It is never left in your car while you have a cuppa with your mates after a clay shoot? You have NEVER had to stop for fuel on your way anywhere while carrying your gun? NEVER popped in the pub for a pint after a shoot? Never had to stop to get some cash out of the hole in the wall? NEVER, EVER,? I for one don't believe you and to say you were brought up when things were done right is laughable. most houses up until 25 years ago had a gun lean up against the wall behind the back door. How is that showing what is responsible?

Voluntary Restraint in shooting wildfowl and waders
MC replied to harrycatcat1's topic in Wildfowling
Quite glad someone has a little bit of sense. Canada Geese are and always will be wildfowl. They are not vermin, never have been. You are permitted to shoot them under the terms of the general licence at all times of the year as long as you adhere to those terms. They come under the cold weather ban as they are named in it specifically. But then again the "Wipe them all out brigade" won't be interested in that. Killing everything living is all they are interested in. -
And what that should finish with is "None of these measure will prevent your firearm or ammunition being stolen" And answer this, If some lowlife stuffs a sawn off shotgun in the face of a bank clerk do you reckon they will think to themselves "Oh no it is OK, he cannot shoot me as he doesn't have the forend"?

You really are naive aren't you. I do not have an issue with my FEO. I abide by the laws laid down in this country. I assume that you haven't bothered to google key bumping, but try "Picking a 7 lever lock" and watch the you tube videos. Believe me it is far easier to get into a house than it is a car.
-
Very valid reason as is Al4x's about stopping for fuel. Walking into a petrol station with a gun and ammo is asking for far more trouble than leaving them in a locked car.
-
So what do you do then? Drive home, clean your gun, lock it away and then polish your halo and then go back out to the shop? No of course you don't. All I can say is paranoia is rife and so is the crime where you live. I have no issues with leaving a gun in my car while I am not there. By locking it and the car being alarmed it is probably more secure than my house anyway. And if you find that statement a little tough to believe check out your front door locks and then google "Key bumping"

Oh I would, Being suspended hasn't stopped me reading some of the drivel that has been posted.
-
What absolute poppycock, So if you had to stop off at a supermarket on your way to or from a shoot you would take your gun and ammo in with you would you? Taking the forend may make the gun inoperable but it doesn't stop it getting stolen does it?
-
Jesus christ there is some paranoid people on here. So the gun was left in a car? God forbid. Anyone who says they take their gun and ammo with them if they stop off at a shop isn't fooling anyone. Toy guns do not count here fellas. Anyone who actually shoots and owns a gun will have left theirs several times. I know I have. The law says you need to make REASONABLE precautions to keep your guns safe. I would consider being locked in a car for a few minutes reasonable.
-
If by that you mean as long as noone sees you it is OK then no it isn't one of those questions. Shooting game in England on sunday is illegal. No ifs or buts, just plain and simply illegal. There is a few boxing day shoots that will be postponed by a day this year.

25th november, towerlands at braintree BASC roadshow. or I am in colchester tomorow morning. 2 of the PSG boys supported the last event, I don't remember seeing your name on the list. Or if you really want to show your metal then there is a clay shoot and tendring on saturday.
-
I will be in normal clothes as I am not some walting fantasist with tactical guns and a chip on their shoulder. You think I am not intelligent? That is only your opinion and as you do not know me or have ever spoken to me it is obviously the wrong one. I have no desire to meet you, I am afraid that the lock and load boys do nothing for me. However if you ever need a lesson in clay or rifle shooting then PM me, I will be only to happy to show you how it is done. And as for not being able to bait you? I already have. You lose sucker
-
Nicely put slug, does that make you feel tough getting arond the swear filter? Maybe it goes with the image of your walting guns in your list.
-
Or how childish some people can be, If you don't want to read this then don't and stay out of it, nobody asked for your input anyway.

Or maybe he was just scared of losing after making out he was some kind of hotshot. As I said there is no hostility, I just find it really funny (or should that be sad) that people come on here, make out they are some kind of hero, can't back it up with any proof and then they throw there toys out of their prams and get banned. They then come back a little while later with a new user name. You are a classic, just like outlaw/jazzie/whatever else he called himself, or even the other leg-end berrettaman/jko/ Oh yes and I seem to remember our other fallen hero signed in anonomously as well, so many similarities, funny that isn't it?
-
No not at all, in fact he bottled it when challenged to a shoot, no backbone you see. Splineless I think the word is. You may think we are all daft and do not know that you are the reincarnated benelli Montefeltro, the one who ran off sulking. This is not hostility, not in the slightest. And as for getting under my skin, don't flatter yourself. I just suffer fools lightly, and you fit right in to that category.
-
Actually I am allowed to own several, not that is any of your business. Why the change of name Benelli boy? have you bought a new gun? If you want to pick a fight go back to the stone you crawled out from, AKA Clay spurting.com. And as for intellectually challenged, it is You are or you're. Get your own house in order before preaching to anyone else.
-
No why have you? And what business of yours would it have been if I had? I am over 18 you know
-
That is quite handy seeing as though I wouldn't want to share a days shooting with someone who is to ignorant not to know the laws.
-
So did you just go out and shoot what you wanted when you wanted or did you research it first?
-
Oh god, Surely not benelli boy rearing his ugly head again is it?
-
Surely it is because pigeons are protected by law and the only way you can shoot them is by complying to the OGL. If they are roosting at night they aren't damaging anyones crops and you won't have tried all non lethal methods of getting rid of them. If you were to stick a gas banger in the wood they wouldn't roost there for long.
-
Maybe you shoot witha bunch of cowboys then, If you shoot you should know the laws relating to shooting. If you drive a car, you should know the laws relating to driving cars. To say you didn't know what the speed limit was after being stopped for speeding is no defence. If you are going out to shoot at night then you should know what you can or cannot shoot at night.
-
You think so? Maybe you can tell me how many of the 19 CPSA affiliated grounds hold registered sporting shoots or what the CPSA is doing about promoting clay shooting like their remit states? But then again you probably can't
-
I agree wholeheartedly with Dazza, if someone is A) able to breal the law by ignorance and B ) dumb enough to post what they have done on a public forum possibly damaging the sport of shooting in the process then they should get a slating. What makes things worse is when they retaliate as if they were in the right all along. As for the 704 yard hare, well that is beyond belief the ammount of support that idiot got
