  1. Here's a thread I posted elsewhere on making a lanyard
  2. Very nice that oak looks like walnut
  3. I received some Warne quick release mounts for my CZ527 Varmint which I'm still waiting for the licence to come through for, so I don't have the rifle yet. I think I may be missing a recoil screw from one of the mounts, see pic below; I've sent a mail to Opticswarehouse, but does anyone know if this is normal for these mounts or do they come with a screw on each mount?
  4. Well I've bought one of these, CZ 527 Laminate, so thanks for all the advice
  5. Sorry I should have said 1 inch tube. That equates to 26mm.
  6. I’ve just bought a .223 CZ 527 Varmint Laminate Stock. I’m looking for CZ mounts for a scope with a 40mm objective lens. Does anyone know of a good site where I can buy good quality reasonably priced set of 16mm scope mounts for a CZ rifle.
  7. I'm considering one of these, resons being is its a cheap entry level .223, its light and its its got a 21 inch barrel. Has anyone had any experience of one of these rifles. It'll be used for lamping foxes and maybe a few rabbits for a bit practice. I just want something functional that will kill foxes and not break the bank with after market adjustments. http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/81-centerfire-rifles-cz/KL/CZ_527_SYNTHETIC.aspx
  8. I have a male pup that was born last week, he has 5 toes on each of his hind feet this is not including his dew claws. Has anyone ever seen this before he is the biggest pup in the litter. Will this affect his working ability? Could I sell him to a circus freak show for big bucks? :o
  9. I'm going to put one of these Simmons Whitetail 3.5 - 10 X 40 Classic rifle Scopes. I hope it will be enough but I doubt I'll be shooing any further than 200 yrds. I have a Harris Bipod with 27 inch extendable legs which swivels.
  10. The Hogue over moulded stock is supposed to be a bit flimsy and the fore end touched the barrel when using a bipod, would you notice a difference in your groups using this stock when shooting off the bipod?
  11. I am considering buying a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .223, has anybody got any views or opinions on these rifles. The reason I want the tactical is because of the heavy barrel and the barrel length is only 20 inches and it would be a little easier to carry around rather than the longer barrelled varmint versions. I'm hoping to have it threaded for a moderator aswell, so the 20 inch barrell would reduce the overall length.
  12. Thanks al4x I have a barrier it was in the vets it happened, I think it got squashed, but who knows it might have been natural causes, I was gutted but on the positive side 5 pups will be easier to handle than 8.
  13. Came home from work yesterday and my springer spaniel bitch was looking a bit forlorn and down in the dumps. She was in pup and her due date was this week. I brought her into the whelping box and left her there. She wasn't as on edge as I had expected and was just thrown there, she did get up and scratch a bit and was breathing heavily, rang a few friends who all said, that it sounded like she was going to go into pup that night. I checked her at twelve and went to bed everything was fine. Got up this morning went out the back and could hear squealing from the shed. At that stage there were four pups born, 1 was dead, 2 were suckling and a fourth was what appeared to be on its way out/stuck, the bitch didn't seem to be in any distress, she barked and growled at me, but let me nearer to her. However all was not right with the fourth pup as it looked as if it was caught up on the umbilical cord, on closer inspection I was horrified to see that it wasn't caught on the cord the bitch had chewed through her vulva and the pup was strangled on the mouth of her vulva, so that was two dead. Called the vet to come ASAP, in the mean time she had another pup, the vet arrived and got the dead pup out. She then gave the bitch an injection to bring on the rest of the births and in twenty minutes there were 2 more pups born. I now had six live pups 3 girl and 3 boys, the vet left and said to come over to the surgery to have the bitch stitched, my friend who owned the pups father arrived afterwards, we brought the whole lot to the vet so that the bitch could get stitched up. We were admiring the pups in the vets 3 girls and 3 boys, one of the girls had a solid liver head just like her mother, I was thinking to myself that that's the bitch I'll keep for myself. I called back to the vets after lunch, unfortunately she had more bad news, the mother had accidentally crushed the little pup with the solid liver head. Anyway I have 3 boys and 2 girls left they are doing fine and the mother is fine. Its her first litter, a maiden bitch as they say, it hasn't gone to plan but hopefully that's the worst of it over now.
  14. Is it still possible to import scopes from the US as I've heard that the department of homeland security has clamped down on this?
  15. ebay: CAMO-SILENT-SPIN-SEAT-SWIVEL-360-PIGEON-DECOYING-DECOY
  16. Its finished. Swivel seat arrived today in the post. I might re-cover the material on the seat with the camo material I got for the drum, think my father has a big stapler in the shed somewhere.
  17. I have the night vision monocle and find it to be a heap of ****!
  18. Thanks that's what I'm going to use the original bergin came with aluminium strips that reinforced/made the back rigid.
  19. Yeah I know they won't hold on their own. That's why I've said in my previous posts that I'm going to reinforce those areas.
  20. The drum is too big, anyway that would be too easy
  21. There are four sides on the barrel so its not going to be that awkward, but haying weight in it will prove a lot. I'm going to reinforce the areas which are most likely going to come unstuck, by either bolting or riveting them.
  22. Had some old bits of army gear that were taking up room in the attic and a blue plastic drum. I need a pigeon hide seat so.... project on. I cut the back of a PLCE bergin and glued it onto one side of the blue barrel. I've used EVO STIK Trade 007 for the glue job, I'ld say it'll hold but its taking a long time to cure the material to the barrel, I'll cut up the aluminium frame from the bergin to reinforce the where the straps are on the bergin because this is where the glue will most likely give way when carrying a full load. I tried spraying it with green paint but its not working out, have another idea though! Ordered a swivel seat on ebay and hopefully that will arrive this week. Here are a few pictures.
  23. My 3 year old springer bitch is expecting for the 1st week in April. I'm in the process of getting ready for the birth. I'm looking for plans for a whelping box or some tips on making the whelping box. Any help would be appreciated.
