Hi mate, if you can go for ex layers which have never seen the great outdoors yet ie kept back poults which the game farm will raise and use as this years layers. All they know is a pen and they hold very well compared to caught up hens. Feed them high protein pellet on arrival for a week or so then step down to a cheaper pellet for couple of weeks then slowly introduce wheat. Good multi vitamin and plenty of water.

No history at all I don't know they guy. Just clearing up a point which bigrifle had questioned, he quotes ' an experienced game shooter' surely he would know the drill for the day. Think he has made a point that no one agrees with!

So let me get this right working things out your way bigrifle, on a 250 bird day your saying you would get 4.8 birds per drive (based on a ten gun line)! Bang bang bang bang miss drive over! I think we all know things do not work out like this it's a collective average, some drives busier than others some drives more testing than others. Your budget and bag sizes must be huge to enable lots of banging!

We normally allow a team of guns to shoot 3-1 ie 3 shots to 1 bird, the team that day managed 124 birds, they achieved this with 351 shots, 2.8-1 was the ratio. They all shot very well. Does this answer your question. Many thanks luke.

Its worth asking your bird supplier what kind of ex layer they are. Are they caught up birds which do like to wonder or Are they polts that the game farm has kept back and brought on to use as this urs laying stock. We will only buy the kept back poults, feed and treat them like a poult and they will be there. So far we are having excellent results, micro is something to watch out for and can become expensive vet wise
