My wife and I have recently carried out the Marriage Allowance  procedure with HMRC and once you registered with them, which is bit lengthy but very secure, the whole procedure is straightforward. You can claim back transfers of your wifes' tax allowance to the the tax year 2015/16. Once the transfer is approved you can claim online and the money was paid into nominated bank account within five days. If you choose not to register it can take two months apparently to get a cheque.

    Vic.

This is how it should be done regardless of the type of tax repayment claim. The PTA is the taxpayers own personal portal.I did my lump sum pension refund through mine. From filling the form out to getting my refund took 9 days. There really is no need to get any 3rd party involved. Some of these claims firms are taking as much as 62p in every £1.

  2. PLEASE make your friend/family aware of this company!

They are poaching on Facebook and even popping up in adverts when people are on online gaming sites. With the promise of a claiming a refund though MA transfers.People are then sent a claim form, which is actually a Deed Of Assignment. Once this is signed it is very hard to get out of the binding contract. It can only be withdrawn or cancelled by HMRC if both parties write in with an agreement to cancel.THIS COMPANY IS TAKING 50% OF THE CLIENTS REFUND

99% of the customers i have spoken to  have not realised that  they have signed a DOA and the implications it has.Unlike a 64-8 (Agent authority) that can be withdrawn  with a simple phone call to HMRC.

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF CLAIMING MA ,THEN  PLEASE DO IT THROUGH HMRC OR THROUGH YOUR PERSONAL TAX ACCOUNT. (100% OF THE REFUND COMES TO YOU) IF YOU DONT HAVE A PERSONAL TAX ACCOUNT , THEN  YOU CAN CREATE ON BY GOING TO GOV.UK/PERSONAL TAX ACCOUNT.

The customer can legally assign a repayment to a third party using a deed or letter of assignment (DoA):

the assignee becomes the person legally entitled to the repayment

    the assignment is legally binding

we are obliged to make the repayment to the person to whom it has been assigned (the assignee).

    MA (marriage allowance)

From April 2015, eligible customers can transfer 10 per cent of their Personal Allowance to their spouse / civil partner – we call this transferring Marriage Allowance (MA).

    Amount transferable

    Income

    • their partner (recipient) is not liable for higher rate tax
    • they (transferor) are currently not liable to tax-their current income is less than Personal Allowance (plus up to the maximum of the current start rate for savings)
    • the transfer's income is less than Personal allowance or more than Personal allowance less 10%
    • we accept applications from customers with less than 10 % of unused Personal Allowances to transfer, the transferor will become a taxpayer but their spouse/civil partner will pay less and as a couple they will pay less overall
    • Example 2016/17

Joy works as a part time DJ and earns £8,000 per year. Joys full Personal Allowance for the year is £11,000. She transfers £1,100 to her husband, Paul. She can now earn £9,900 before she pays tax. (Marriage Allowance is an ‘all or nothing transfer’) During 2016-17, she decides to put in a few extra shifts and her earnings go up to £10,500 this year. Joy’s extra shifts means she now earns £600 more than her Personal Allowance. This means she will pay basic-rate tax for the year of £120. Meanwhile, Paul gets an increase in his Personal Allowance of £1,100, so he'll get to keep an extra £220 (the 20% tax he would have had to pay). The net benefit to Joy and Paul is £100.

Please note that Marriage Allowance.co.uk. are not doing anything illegal.( THEY ARE HOWEVER NOT EXPLAINING THE CRITERIA,LEAVING THE TRANSFER-ER UNDERPAID AND WITH A TAX BILL WHEN THEY GIVE 10% OF THEIR PA TO THEIR SPOUSE/PARTNER ) Its down to the individual to be cautious and understand the implications and costs. These companies are not exhaustive and are targeting everything from Mileage claims to uniform tax (FRE'S ) flat rate expenses.

  3. Wife gave Ben a £5 note this morning.Ben moaned about it been crinkled and he would have problems putting it in te machine at school.

5minutes later there is a commotion in the other room.Mum 'AKa Numb Nuts' has only tried to iron it.Now he has a fiver the size of a 1st class stamp.

How on earth she was a teacher for 30 years is beyond me!

  4. I think he gets axed from love island tonight.

Packham claims he should not use love island as a platform.Eh he hasn't mentioned hunting once! Unlike Packham who uses any TV show he is on as  PLATFORM FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL VIEWS/GAINS.

The ultra high compression non turbo 2ltr Skyactiv petrol engine in my Mazda is rated at 120bhp in every market including America where the standard fuel is 87 octane. BBR who tune Mazdas, dyno tested the engine with 99 octane at 138bhp. Believe me the difference is noticeable in both performance and mpg. I can get over 55 mpg with careful driving.

    BBR did my MX5

    You didn't stop then?

He reversed out of the hedge minus his bumper and drove off lol (rear dashcam recorded that but not wifi so a chew to download.Plus I had a coffee and cake appointment to keep at my favourite cafe.

  7. Out in the car this morning following a van.Oncoming boy race turning right decides it's a good idea to cut the junction to save having to wait for white van man and myself to pass. However boyracer didn't count on Green Mazda approaching junction. So had to take avoiding action and straight line in into the hedge.

Young men and motors, dont ya just love'em.

  8. I got done 55 in a 50 dual carriageway just on outskirts of Newcastle.I got choice of fine/points or awareness course.Im 57 and been driving since 17.1st ever offence I've had.

The awareness course is very good and weakens you up when i like most of us become complacent. Its a wake up call when you see the difference in stopping distance an extra 5mph can make. But it's the impact that's the biggest wake up call an extra 5mph has!

Great course to attend, should actually be a compulsory course every licence holder should take periodically.

I originally felt hard done by, 55 in a 50 and had the usual attitude of,it's only 5mph over. However after the course (during the course even) felt the course /penalty was justified.

You can register as self-employed at www.gov.uk/log-in-file-self-assessment-tax-return/register-if-youre-self-employed and by clicking on the 'register online' link.

The registration will be processed within 7 weeks and will automatically set-up an online account for you to file a Self Assessment tax return

You will be sent an activation code, an 'SA250 SA Welcome' letter with confirmation of your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number in the post.

If you have been in SA before your UTR number will likely remain the same.

I think they were forced to stop auto renewal a few years ago because the insurers were abusing it to do over lazy(like me) customers.

I drive about 30,000 miles a year and have accrued 3 points and one crash my wife hasn't driven for 10 years, we were given a Honda Jazz for her.

Its 400 pounds (my keyboard dosent have a pound sign) in her name with me as a named driver 3x that for me with her as the named driver.

They still do it Admiral sent me my renewal 2 weeks before it ran out quoting £120 more than previous year.Letter said if happy with quote it will continue.Phoned them up to say no thank you.(I had already sorted paid for the next year with RIAS).They asked if they could  try and match it.No thanks you shouldn't of tried taking my pants down!

Jesus Christ really ! So the guilty party is now the injured party would stickers of stooped the incident in the first place ?

Thing I like about cams, especially in the rear of the car is 'once they clock it the majority back off immediately'

Just put our stickers 10 minutes ago.Funny how we just put stuff away, its in the box for a reason just didn't read the small print

  14. Mate has had letter from insurance company re his accident he recorded on his next base.Although it aided him in his claim the other party has put in claim about privacy infringement because he wasn't displaying stickers on the car to comply with DPA or something.

I run front and rear Nextbase in both my cars and today will be making sure the supplied stickers are put on the cars.

  15. Max has been given 1 tablet Drontal after being weighed in at the pet shop.Susan called in this morning but they wouldn't sell her the tablets until Max had been weighed.Only £21 and the box contains 2 tablets for dogs up to 35kg.Max weighed in at 22.8kg.

Will do him every 3 month moving forward, thanks PW for your kind advise.

    David & Max

  16. I've had a 02 plate with the gear stick HR/LR.Also had a 58 plate JLX plus with the push button HR/LR. Both where great, but with Jimnys it's the corrosion that's the main thing to look out for.My 02 needed quite a bit of welding. When I went for my 2nd Jimny I knew what to look for and where to look. The 58 plate was spotless as it was owned by an old lady.I took it straight to a underseal specialist to get it dinitoled.I stopped shooting so sold it and regret that day, miss it like crazy.

I'm currently on the waiting list for the new Jimny.Currenty running a 2019 Swift and a 2019 Ignis so when I get the call one of these will go (Swift).

  17. So confusing,so many on the market. How often should he be wormed (every 3 mounths ) ? I understand that I need to weight Max to establish the dosage.Should I just continue using the vets? He was last wormed/flee'd at the vets about 10 weeks ago.

If it's ok to do myself, what PW dog owners using?

    Many thanks

    David
