  1. What chest size is it laid flat and do you take paypal ? Cheers Schmoo.
  2. I saw it steve, it had a brass door catch to attach it to the receiver, good idea and glad it works, I might give it a go but add a net at the bottom, I have manually ejected shell before now to climb fences and managed to lose them ! Think I need my eyes testing, while im at it. Schmoo.
  3. Would you share how you made it and perhaps some pics. Im sick of spending time searching in the grass for spent cases, I have purchased cases in white, red, clear, green, black, burgundy you name it ive bought it, to date burgundy seems best for me. Cheers Schmoo.
  4. I have a Baikal MP153 semi auto. It has had 2 1/2" 2 3/4" 3" and 3.5" cartridges run thru it from 21g to 42g loads. I have even run 3 different length cartridges ins 3 different weights and it has never ever missed a beat, not once. It is also very robust in its construction, it is that well built it doubles up as a hammer for knocking in fence posts if needed ! Top quality bit of kit, not the prettiest but built to last. Schmoo.
  5. Just got back, tried the 34g 4's. Full choke at 50 yds, great pattern, well on the old plank I shot at ! Had no gaps bigger than a fag packet, so seems ok. Will move it back to 60 and see **** happens then. Schmoo.
  6. It is just really open now winter is here. Schmoo
  7. Just got a couple of boxes of 34g 4's. I will take them out over the weekend and see how they pattern. Schmoo.
  8. Thats what seems to be hitting the crops at the moment, so has to be done for now till I get my FAC. Schmoo.
  9. A mate does come over from time to time and we do get them out to 150yds with the hmr and 100 odd yds with the 22lr, make my life loads easier, we can pick em off all day long with the 22, makes the job a pleasure to do, at the moment with the shotty its a chore. Will just have to wait till the new year for my FAC. Any views on shot size for now out to 50yds if I am lucky enough to get that close ? Schmoo.
  10. Thanks for that. I know that the pattern and lack of shot will place huge holes in the spread and there is the potential to miss or wound. Just wondered if anyone might have a cunning plan that might be worth a try. I may have to just leave them alone and hope the Police dont take too long turning round my FAC application in the new year. Fingers crossed. Schmoo.
  11. Thanks for your reply. What sort of range are we talking, if my plan or theory will only perhaps extend my range by 10yds it may not be worth it. I can easily get within about 80yds as there is cover that far from where I approach the rabbits, is that too far for AA or BB shot still ? I can spend about an hour crawling to get within 60yds of the rabbits and have to shoot lying down if I do raise my head they just move 20yds further away, little ****. Schmoo. Thanks for your reply, what would you suggest for 60-80yd rabbit shots ? Or is this simply too far regardless what shot size I use. Thanks. Schmoo.
  12. I do have a m/c semi and it does hold a decent pattern, well has when I have patterened it with the usual 5's and 6's. It is nice to eat the meat, but I am willing to sacrifice a nice rabbit pie to get the darn things dead. Cheers Schmoo
  13. Yes I dont mind, paying double what I do now. I have spend a good 3 or 4 days at 6 hours a day and have nothing to show for it. I am good at stalking, you have to be with an air rifle, but short of getting a ghillie suit or digging a hole and sleeping in it I cant get near the pesky little *******. The theory of a heavier pellet means it should go further ? Cheers for your reply. Schmoo.
  14. Hi I am sure this will open a massive can of worms and I am sure people will slate me for asking the question, but here goes. Of late I am really struggling to get within about 40yds of my quarry, namely rabbits, pigeons, crows, but mostly at the moment we are concentrating on the rabbits. With the lack of foliage and hedges etc, it is now making it almost impossible to get within 40yds of the rabbits. My FAC application will be endorsed by my landowner in the new year and fingers crossed all goes well with the application, should be out with a 22lr or .17hmr come Easter next year. So this is a stop gap to help keep numbers down till my FAC arrives, I have with good results in the past used both a sub 12ft lb air rifle out to 40yds and of course my faithful 12g. I currently use 30-32g 6's for the woodies and close crows, tend to use 30-32g 5's for the rabbits, mind you the 6's do just fine provided the rabbit is not out beyong 40yds. Here comes the question, If I was to use on full choke B,BB,A,AA, shot would this give me more distance and more punch when the shot gets there ? I know it may be overkill and they are expensive, but the job needs doing and right now I cant do it with 5's or 6's. In my non ballistaical mind I am comparing 6's as a thrown handful of sand, and A's etc as a handful of gravel, sand work well up close, gravel goes further and hurt more but also tends to miss things. Any ideas of what distance the bigger loads will knock rabbits down at etc. Your opions and advice would be appreciated, I would like advice not an ear bending. Thanks in advice chaps. Schmoo.
  15. I am interested in a desert and a woodland one. but would like a few pics first. Thanks Schmoo.
  16. Better late than never, I have a browning B325 32 multi sporter grade 2. Mint, tight action. Schmoo
  17. Interest in the light, does it come with a gun mount and what sort of burn time. Collection would not be possible would you post and do you accept paypal. Cheers schmoo.
  18. [quote name='officerdibble777' timestamp='1309786604' post='14593 Remington maketed them as the Spartan spr 453.And stopped importing them to the U.S in 2008. Cheap guns,$300-$400 you won't get one here for £250 new, will you ? john Sadly not for £250 new however mine was £300 2nd hand. It had been used as a water fowling gun and the wood had been linseed oiled, not to my liking, so I drew the oil out and satin varnished it. Looks and shoots as it should and she has had some abuse. I believe the ones I have seen new are about £500 plus new, but worth it I think. I was saving for a new one when this one showed up, so I took a punt on it and havent looked back. Schmoo.
  19. Have you considered a Biakal MP153 semi. I bought one about a month or so ago, have nothing but the upmost praise for it. I have put 2 1/2" 21g clay loads right thru to 3 1/2" 42g loads without any adjustment and without a glitch. I ran a 21g a 32g and a 42g all thru it in the same go ( holds 3 cartridges ) not a problem. I have neglected it of late and have been out shooting clays and in the field after pigeons, I must have run in excess of 500 cartridges thru it and have not cleaned it as yet, stillworks like a dream, I will give it a clean this weekend at some stage, mind you I have been saying that for the last few weekends ! Have a look on you tube a french canadian guy puts one of these thru its paces, it is sold in the US as a remmington spr143 or something like that, and the ruskies love em. Its made by the same people that make the AK47, its a proper rugged workhorse, designed to do the job its intended for, shhoting things with no glitches. Its very sturdy and industrial, not the nicest looking gun in the world, but I dont ever remember a pigeon getting the chance to admire any of my guns ! It has the same stigma attached to it, that Skoda cars do. Skoda cars are known for being very reliable, albeit industrial / tractor like but a 100% work horse. Plus they are so sturdy you can bang any wonky fenceposts back in with it !!!! One tip to remember, dont go with looks go with function. Good luck on your hunt for a semi. Regards Schmoo.
  20. For most field and clays barrel length doesnt make much difference. Do be mindful that a 28 semi will be the same in length as a 30 o/u. Found that out when I couldnt get my new mp153 28" in my browning 30" o/u gun slip. I reckon my mp153 would be a 31" o/u if you get my drift. I would if the funds would allow like to get a 24" barrel for my mp153, does make things a little easier in a tight hide. Schmoo.
  21. Sussex police first class service. Sgc applied for on 7th march Feo visit on 16th he told me they would write to my gp ss I had been on anti depressants They wrote to gp, he replied. Sgc arrivedon the morning of the 8th of april. Bloody good service I say, could be quicker, but that aint bad, 4 weeks. Hope my fierarms one is that quick. Schmoo.
  22. Where are you mate, im sure that if your land owner would allow someone here would be more than happy to come help you with the crows to keep the farmer sweet till your sgc arrives. Schmoo.
  23. I think you will be fine, I too was on medication after my marraige break up. Read a post titled sgc may be lost before it has been granted. It is about my mates application, long complex story but all came good in the end. My sgc was applied for on 7th march and issued on 7th of april, and that included writing to my GP to make surw I wasnt a mental case coz of the medication I was on after marraige break up. All will be good mate I am sure, you can always phone the bscs they will put your mind at rest im sure. Good luck and best wishes. Schmoo.
  24. This is true, they are pest species and as such we should only shoot them for crop protection purposes. Having said that, we as responsible shooters can have a relaxing time doing something we enjoy while providing a worthwhile service to our land owners. So some may view it as sport, others may view it as a job that needs to be done to protect crops and in tuen keep prices of produce on the highstreet down. I enjoy doing this for my landowner, does that mean as I enjoy doing it I consider it a sport ? I dont know. We all have a duty to respect our quarry and have fun in the process, pointless otherwise. Schmoo.
  25. What I have been doing of late, is walking the hedge rows on my permission. Over three evenings I have bagged 14 pigeons, 2 crows and just 1 rabbit. I noticed on my first evening that there appeared to be a flight line accross a particular field. I sat close to this flight line and had some good shooting. Walking hedge rows can be productive but sometimes you walk for a long while and see nothing, then something appears perhaps a touch out of range and some will take a pot shot out of frustration, as this has been the only chance to shoot all evening. Another thing to be aware of is trust with your life anyone who rough shoots with you, I speak from experience, I have been clipped with shot before now, another time someone shot over my shoulder at an injured rabbit I walking out to retrieve, I was some 5-10 yards ahead of him and he knew I was going to sort the rabbit out, but stupidly thought he would put it out of its misery with his gun ( what a complete and utter t**t ) lets just say he has never been anywhere near me since. Some people get caught in the moment and forget they are with someone. Bottom line mate get out, put some lead down her and have fun, all the time your out your surveying the land and finding hot spots or flight lines, things can only get better. You can't beat good knowledge, so survey your land and above all have a BLAST ! Best wishes Schmoo.
