  1. I would like to publicly praise the fine work that the team at the Sussex police firearms issueing department do. New SGC granted in 4 weeks last year New FAC granted in 9 weeks this year both of these had to enquire with my Doc over prescribed mediction, and a referee change on my FAC as 1st wasnt suitable. SGC sent back, ammended and back on my door step in less that 1 week. What a wonderful job this small team do. Thank you thank you thank you. Schmoo.
  2. Having got my FAC thru the post last week after only 9 weeks, fantastic job Sussex police. I duely went out and got myself a nice little BRNO mod 2 made on 1981. Superb bit of kit and at only £140 including a barrell shortning, re-thread and parker hale mod a steal. Everyting was fine when I first took it out, but it did on occassion not cock properly, which mean I had to cycle the bolt again spend 10 mins trying to find the ejected unfired round and carry on. Took it out last night same again. My question is it has been stripped and clean, a light oiling was applied: is it something I might have done do I need to be more brutal when cocking, as i try and do this slowly and quietly as not to spook anything close by or is it something in the rifle its self that re-cocks the bolt. any help would be great, thanks in advance. Schmoo.
  3. Well, here goes. I did the decent thing and declared my old motoring convictions on my FAC application. Sent it off and Sussex police confirmed they received it on the 15th March 2012, I asked how long for a home visit ? Was told a good 6 weeks, so I waited and sure enough had my home visit on the 26th April 2012. During the home visit, it was noted that a serial number on one of my shotguns was incorrect, also my FEO said one of my referees could not be used as he was a touch too close to home, he also said that this wil delay my FAC by a couple of weeks, and was looking at 14 weeks before it would be issued, so my FEO wrote to me with a referee form etc and I found a new referee sent forms back etc. Imagine my suprise on the 16th of may, getting a phone call from the Sussex police firearms unit saying it has been granted and is coming out to you 2nd class today, HAPPY DAYS, so all in all from them receiving my aaplication to it being granted 9 weeks, not bad as i was told at the application stage 20 weeks. I sent my SGC back to have the serial number changed, posted it on the thursday and had it back on my door step the following wednesday, what a bloody great service Sussex police provide, last year they had my SGC granted from receipt to grant in 4 weeks and this included a doctors letter as I have had some medication prescribed for anxiety in the past. 4. Get yourself on the meter nick, its only a matter of time before we are all on the meter. You will save a small fortune. Schmoo.
  5. Nick one more thing, how many of you in the flat, if there is 2 and a nipper, you will be better off asking to go onto the meter, I was paying a tenner a minth at the most on the meter, that was 2 adults showering most mornings and a bath shared in the evening, this also inckuded giving the baby a bath abd watering the odd hanging basket. For me at the time was much cheaper. Now im in a house 2 adults and 3 teenage kids, I am on the meter here after the whole street was done last summer and its forcast on what we have used since it was installed to cost an extra £50 odd a year, that will change once I batter the kids into getting out the shower the same day they get in it and turning taps off when cleaning their teeth etc. Schmoo.
  6. Sorry just read what you posted properly, your being billed for 14 months, I didnt see 2013. I used to get billed for my water upfront as it appears your about to. I guess price wise it seems right, some companies let you pay 4 equal payments over the year. Good luck Schmoo.
  7. Are you on the water meter ? Sounds like you are if your being bills quarterly. Unless you live with 50 other people who all have the trotts and your toilet gets flushed 100's of times a day or you all have baths, there is something amiss, big style. Sounds like you have a leak, big bloody leak underground or your being billed for a small amount you used and perhaos the previous tennants owed some when they left ? Either way speak to water firm monday, most of em are pretty good, they arent like the other utility companies, who cut you off, these guysare a touch more human. Schmoo.

  16. I have a nice air arms s410 which is surplus to requirements, with silencer, 3l bottle, 2 x barrels 1 x .22 and 1 x .177. And 2 x 10 shot mags for each caliber. Looking for £500 or sensible offer. Schmoo
  17. I live about 10miles from chi armoury and work about 18 away it.

Think the cz452 or the old brno mod 2 in .22 to start should fit the bill.

  19. Fashion I reckon, fenboy im of the same school as you, or atleast have some tail feathers missing long before it sees your blueing !. Makes sense if its synthetic camo as its less likely to get damaged from moisture, and I would imagine same applies for a painted barrel and action too. I painted all the metal parts on my Baikal for that reason as I go out in all weathers. Schmoo.
  20. Someone once said to me that the pigeon didnt care what killed it, wether its a £50 or £500 gun, if you can shoot it dont really matter what you spend on a gun, its still only a gun to do a job, throw lead at an object, I have a grands worth of browning and £300 worth of Baikal, the browning never sees the light of day. Im sure David Beckham would still be a better footballer than all of us wearing hob nail boots, while we wear £200 football boots. Schmoo.
  21. Sad.sad.story, sorry to hear that. Schmoo.
  22. Im not into the off road scene, so excuse my ignorance on this, I would imagine the land rover to be one of the best seeing that the military use them. I have seen lpg range rovers or other big gas gusslers going for less than your budget in lpg but I have no idea what they are like off road, im lucky I only need one as a comuter for me to and fro from work and as a shooting wagon, I too do about 300 miles to and from work. But cant afford to drop below 45mpg that I get now from my car. For me it looks like its going to be shankes pony for shooting, for now. Schmoo.
  23. I have been told that our hearing gets worse as we get older, we all need to preserve our hearing for as long as we can. I hate to shoot in the field with protection, I like to hear noise or perhaps people approaching or others shooting nearby, never happened but you never know some div might be out and shoot me thru a hedge ! I find using my semi 12G with only one ear plug in, the one on the stock side works well for me, but if I am shooting with a partner, we take turns I listen without hearing protection 10 foot or so behind my mate shooting and vice versa. But you cant beat wearing hearing protection, when we go and bust clays I put them on when we leave the car and take them off only when we are back at the car. I have been told that ringing in your ears is a sign that you have damaged your hearing and from what I understand it is not something that can be replaced or made better, so if you damage your hearing, thats it you have kind of lost part of your hearing and if you continue to allow yourself to have ringings ears you may end up with tinitus as our pooor friend above has, a friends father who was a panel beater hax this and it is slowly sending his dad round the twist as he has a constant ringing noise in his ears 24/7, it must be a nightmare and cannot be repaired from what I gather. Best be on the safe side and wear them as often as you can. Schmoo.
  24. I will be watching responses closely, im thinking of doing the same, either that or get a quad and leave it at my permission. Schmoo.
