  1. Simple answer is yes they can, and so can Egyptians. Should you though? Make up your own mind

    Punt Gun

Sorry to hijack this thread but are you building a double 8 now Wildfowler? Would be a great build to watch. Also have you thought how much you would charge for a punt gun like yours?

Do people generally think the jack Pyke one is better than a cabela's one? Anyone tried the 3mm dokken one?

I shouldn't feel stupid mate, I only know because the misses is a vet. It is pretty obvious when you think about it!

Cheers nic, interesting to hear people saying Jack Pyke as I've had a few bits of their stuff and they've certainly not been the best quality but maybe the dog coats are different

Yes for doing water work. I just want to make him as comfortable as possible while on the marsh, he looks cold when he gets a retrieve then has to sit next to me for an hour before another dunking

    Dog Coat

Thanks for the replies and yes he does live inside due to me not being foolish enough to disobey the misses... Chest protection may well be a good idea too as he really doesn't have much thought of self preservation either

Thinking about getting one of those neoprene coats for my lab, are there any particularly good ones or any to avoid? Cheers
  10. Is it for putting a bird in to turn it into a decoy (that really is my best guess)
  11. A true 8 is 21.22mm or .8353" so if that is right you need to be very careful about what you fire through it. Defo still worth getting it checked though
  12. That's odd where abouts are you?
  13. Are there no marks on the barrels?? Where abouts do you live? Holts auctioneers in wolferton measured mine
  14. Yes, DON'T fire the thing until you're 100% sure about the bore size, even with fibre wads. A friend of mine managed to bulge his just in front of one of the chokes by firing someone else's homeload without checking it. You really can have loads of fun with it just don't rushing into it and ruin your new toy
  15. I until recently had a Ralph Grant 8 bored .827" it's really not a good idea to put the gualandi plaswads down anything tighter than .835" DerbyshireDale has got it spot on with the pressures too. As long as you don't try any massive loads or big wads through it you'll have great fun with it. Good luck!
  16. Ha I'm so jealous that really is the coolest thing ever!
  17. I'm in fenland mate, brilliant club. Going out in the morning for an 8 bore rumble
  18. Wow to say I'm jealous would be a total understatement
  19. 1) yes 2) bismuth 3) lots 4) not lots
  20. I am a member of fenland and it makes me very sad to hear the club and it's members spoken of in this way. The club does interview and vet all new members and those who don't have a lot of experience are assigned a mentor, (someone very experienced) until it is deemed they are ok to carry on alone. I have never ventured out on the Lincolnshire end of the shore, but can honestly say I (thankfully) have never seen any stupid shooting on the Norfolk areas, although this sadly cannot be said for all the clubs I am involved with. We all know that there are idiots in every situation in life, and I am in no doubt that fenland has it's fair share but they really do try their best as a club, so please don't tar is all with the same brush.
