The size of the bag doesn't matter, well done

After saving to get my gun scope etc, i was totally P***ED off last week when i learnt it had to go back. Went and zeroed the scope and noticed that the gun would not eject a live round, was 100% on ejecting the cases of fired rounds. Called the dealer where i purchased the gun from and arrange to take it in. The gun was .22 CZ 16" American purchased new. They checked the gun and confirmed the fault i mentioned, they told me it was the ejector pins and they would call Edgar Brothers to see if they had the pins in would fit them within a day. I called two days later only to be told that Edgar Brothers have had a batch of guns in where the bore is too tight in the breach preventing ejection of live rounds, the gun would have to be destroyed and i would be given a replacement. Now this seems fair but i have had to send my license off with aletter from the dealer to get a variation, one on one. This i did at the weekend and now have a new gun waiting to be picked up, but can't get it until my license is returned it is so frustrating

It is a .22 Rimfire CZ American 16'' barrel with Sak Mod.

Finally got enough money to get it all together. Going out Monday evening so bunnies beware Will post photos hopefully of a sucessful outing

Next time you are out I would keep a couple of good dead birds and keep them in the freezer until you need them. But do not forget to take them out in good time before you go shooting. Solid frozen pigeons are a sod to fix to the magnet. I can't say that I have had any real sucess with any decoys on a magnet, as soon as I get two dead ones, they are on the whirler, and keeping a couple of dead ones in the freezer is the way to go! (just remember to take them out the night before!)

Hi all Went out decoying on Tuesday, thought i would use the time to see how my young springer would be in the hide and give him an opportunity to retrieve. Firstly my dog will retrieve dummies with fur or wings secured to them, he has retrieved a partridge when beating last season and i have tried him on cold teal. All okay. He is 19 months so is still young. Well the fist pigeon came in and was killed, i left it five minutes and sent the dog, he went straight to the bird sniffed, picked by the wing but would not retrieve. I walked towards him with encouragement and he backed away pulling the bird with his face covered in feathers. I blew the stop whistle and he sat, i then approached and picked the bird.I gave him encouragement and we went back to the hide. When the second bird dropped i sent him again and had the same response, needless to say i was feeling dissappointed. The next couple of birds i walked wih him and picked myself, he was excited but i did not let him touch the birds. I was wondering if i should freeze some birds and when thawed cover in a stocking and see if he will pick these? Has anybody else had this problem and what is the best way to cure? Thanks all

I would be using .22 rf , yes would be initially on foot, am quite fit.

Hi all Just wondering what most use when shooting rabbits at night. What are the advantages of each system? hand held or scope mounted? I know that with hand held you need two people. Also what make of lamp is the most popular? Thanks :blink:

Well on Saturday my FAC arrived this has taken 18 weeks from my application in total. The time taken from interview to receiving certificate 7 weeks, not too bad considering the delays in other area's. Now need to start shopping, was thinking of a .22 CZ with Sako Moderator and a suitable scope 4x40, 6x40? On the subject of scopes i know you get what you pay for i was thinking of Nikko or Hawke, will these be okay? Thanks :blink:

Thinking of buying a 4x4 to go shooting in, will need to drive it 6 miles to my shoot then it would be used off road. I have seen a fourtrack 1988 2.0 diesel (van) type with 11 months mot. Price £600. It apparently has had one owner from new 140k on clock. Some rust on drivers door but overall looks tidy. Is this a good deal? What shall i look for? How do i test the 4 wheel drive? Any advise thankfully received.
