  1. Have just got my FAC but am wondering if with proposed changes to firearms legislation and anti shooting sentiment is it worth investing money in new rifles, scopes etc and a new sporter?

Am reluctant to spend as l thinking shooting will be gone in 5 years if or whenwe get a labour government full of socialist scum

The big problem will be if the same rules are applied to shotgun ammunition as section 1 ammunition.

And land clearance etc., just think of the numbers of folk who shoot in different places for game, fowl and small informal clay clubs.

Same as these I purchase in DK for clays. Cheaper than U.K. equivalent.

Can we get these in the uk?

Could some one explain how 24g of steel is outside oyr uk proof rules?

Are the current rules fit for purpose, they seem to be ovetly restrctive and limit our choice of non lead ammo

  4. Went on Saturday with cash and certificates looking for a LH 243 and a good 20 bore game gun and saved my money!

Less stands than last I was there and less folk. At least the free BASC entry paid for my fuel but wont be back

If you have yet to respond to the consultation please watch this statement by Welsh Climate Minister Julie James MS in a debate last night about the benefits of shooting for people and nature in Wales. If you have responded please spread the word.

ok, I can't be the only person thinking it.....

What are you thinking of getting? Style, brand, etc? Just curious! If luck was really on your side you may find someone here local that lets you try their gun potentially.

Looking for a nice 20 bore of sorts

  7. Am looking for a new PCP which must have a left handed stock and bolt/lever and with a high shot capacity

Am after something compact and of a know, established, quality make and am not keen on a bull pup design.

Budget not really important, did have a BSA Ultra n the past and found the limited capacity no good.

    Any recommendations please?

I've held off on replying until now.

If I am a clay shooter who has no intention of ever shooting a live animal, and I am not convinced doing it for sport rather than conservation is necessarily a good thing, I should support your fight to shoot game in case clays are targeted next?

Many people who don't agree with shooting animals will not reply to this thread, and will not want to say no in case they receive negativity for not supporting the killing of animals.

I do not have an interest in wildfowling or game shooting, but enjoy clay targets as a discipline. I've argued before that clay and game are not interdependent. I think it's a valid argument about wildfowling to encourage voting from another sector though.

Please do not confuse apathy of "clay only" shooters as a sign of disrespect or a lack of support. But equally understand that sometimes a no reply is better and preferable to your cause than being against it.

I wish all that shoot live quarry all the best in their sport, I just don't feel I need to support it to try to keep clay shooting alive. I appreciate your appeal for help is valid on this forum, I am just trying to provide balance as to why many may feel they don't want to.

Divide and rule! If game shooting goes, all shooting sports will disappear other than maybe culling of deer and pests. Narrow minded and selfish attitude in my view

What???     I have never shot in Wales, nor likely to do so. I know not about the management practices or animal welfare issues on commercial shoots in Wales.

So why on earth would I lodge a protest......at  behest of BSAC employee?

For the good of the wider sport, what happens in looney Wales may well happen here if we get Stalmer and his scum in power.

Very narrow minded and selfish viewpoint

I was asked to give a character reference for a teenager intending to use a .22 rimfire (with his licence holding father). My brief was that I should have known him for a period of more than 2 years and that it was unlawful to knowingly mislead etc etc. In my case I was happy to do it as I know the family well. My only advice is don’t do it if you’re not sure - i.e unless you absolutely know they are of ‘good character’. That’s all I can offer.

I know  the lad concerned via my fowling club but really only see him at meetings and the occasional clay shoot - I dont want to offer to do something if I dont fit the police requirements for a ref - just wasting everyones time if am not suitable.
