  1. Used to use 7/8 no7 Hull Jigh Pheasant through my Alex Martin Caledonia 20 bore for years and killed most stuff at sporting ranges including and r&l at Greylag with the last 2 shots l pbt through it. Sadly sold gun during a house move. Hull no longer do a no7 20 bore loads.

Guns at my current syndicate mostly use 30g or 32g 5 or 6s. But a few use 34g 5 or 4s largely l think due influence of the idiots who try to shoot extreme pheasants.

I have had Lincolns in 16 bore and 20 bore and rate them highly and have just obtained another 16 Lincoln Jubilee as I regretted selling my 16 bore Jubilee Prestige.

Could you please explain your comment that ‘both had bad overdraft and hard work to use’ ? Not quite sure what that means or possibly predictive text for something else. I’m genuinely curious to know what problems you encountered.

Overdraft mean the barrels dont drop fully when opened and you have to push them the last little bit which makes reloading a pain.

I know this probably isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but….. how about visiting a well stocked gun room and put a few different 20s to your shoulder? If it’s on a clay ground and they have some demo guns all the better. One ore two guns are likely to ‘feel right’ and fit. At least you’ll end up with a hitter - rather than a fancy gun which you may not get on with.

Sadly we lack such a thing locally so thought would get some suggestions before making a long trip

  4. Due to an elbow injury am looking for a quality 20 bore for clays, the odd game day and a bit of pigeon bashing.

Any recommendations, other than Chapuis which have looked at and dont like, or bog standard Beretta/Brownings.

    Budget about £4k.
