  1. Thanks, Steve. Looks ideal, and not too expensive either.
  2. I want to use a non-FAC air rifle for lamping on foot. Any suggestions as to which torches might be suitable? Thanks, Bear.
  3. Great calibre - took everything muntjac, roe, fallow and red with mine. Factory ammo can be hard to find, with Federal Fusion 140gn SP's being the most common.
  4. Blunderbuss, I remember those stories as well - use your beret to cushion the recoil, but remove the cap badge unless you want it imprinted as a bruise! Are you going to use it on the range only, or for stalking as well?
  5. Would love to, lads, but my wife has booked me on to a dry stone walling course near Bath...otherwise I'd have been there. Maybe a few beers somewhere during the summer? I hope the talk of 'grooming' and 'rohypnol' is just banter....
  6. Sounds like a lot of fun, guys. I'd have been up for coming along, but joined PW too late! Maybe next year....I'll try and lay down a few bottles of home made booze in readiness.....
  7. I had an ATEC CMM4 on a previous rifle - it weighed about 240 grams and didn't affect the balance. Some people have had problems with gas cutting, as its aluminium, but I never put that many rounds through it in quick succession, and it was fine. Before that, I had a Northstar which was effective but heavy.
  8. I've got an unmoderated Varberger 6.5, and never found recoil to be a problem. It's quite a heavy rifle though, so that probably helps soak up a fair bit. As mentioned on another post, I've only put 120gn bullets through it, so I'll see what it's like on heavier ammunition.
  9. Well done - you've got a nice bit of kit there. I had an M595 - one of the smoothest actions I've used.
  10. I've been saving my norma brass, and bought some s/h dies and a reloading manual...just got to get the rest of the stuff now.
  11. My local gunshop has got some Hornady's in stock, so will give them a try. They also had some Sako 156 gn, so might pick up a box of them as well, and see which the rifle prefers.
  12. I bought a Browning 525 in January, and had a fitting session at West London Shooting School yesterday - shot 75 cartridges through a try-gun at a pattern plate and clays, with the fit being adjusted every few shots. Just got to get the gun altered now and see what difference it makes.
  13. Used to use Federal Powershock 140 gn soft points, but couldn't get any for a while so bought the Norma's instead. Very accurate, but will be going back to SP's just to save on meat damage.
  14. Well done. What ammunition were you using? I shot a roe buck earlier this week with my 6.5x55 and Norma 120gn ballistic tips; dropped him on the spot, but the exit wound was massive.
  15. Nice looking head. Shot my first buck of the year down here in Wiltshire on Monday evening; he was an old 6 pointer going back, but was still in full velvet.
  16. Thanks, lads. Blunderbuss,you have a pm.
  17. Morning All, I live in Noth Wiltshire, and help run a small walk & stand game shoot. I also stalk deer, mainly roe and muntjac, and have just bought an air rifle to try and knock over a few rabbits through the summer. Hope to get out decoying before too long, as I'm stating to miss using a shotgun now that the game season is over! All the best, Bear
