  1. I agree; but one aspect that I don't believe is covered by the law is the wearing of balaclavas and masks which can prevent perpetrators being identified. For that reason alone I think a review of the law would be worthwhile.
  2. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/164891 Not sure if this link will work, but it is a petition to introduce a law to stop anti's harassing / intimidating those who hunt, shoot and fish. Please sign if you support it.
  3. Just 'disliked' it. He is one hell of an arrogant man...I would walk away from a days shooting if he was in the gun line.
  4. Sorry, lads. You're probably getting a bit bored of posts like this. Chris Packham is mounting a campaign against M&S selling grouse. I have never shot driven grouse but this is the tip of his anti-shooting iceberg. If you are on Facebook please could you visit his page and dislike his posts about grouse shooting / gamekeepers etc? Admin, please delete if you consider this inappropriate.
  5. I've bought and sold too many; the only one I don't look back on fondly was a Baikal single barrel I bought when I was 14...although I did shoot a crow with my first shot from it.
  6. Westbury Fieldsports is just up the road. If you're a rifleman then Ivythorn Sporting just outside Street is worth a visit...think you have to phone ahead though.
  7. The letter is dated 12 July and addressed to John Swift...David Cameron's parting gift to the shooting community maybe?
  8. There's a letter on the Lead Ammunition Group website from Elizabeth Truss of the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs stating no ban on lead ammunition will be introduced. I would post a link if I knew how.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I will have a look around at the game fair. Also thinking that a Benelli super nova might meet the criteria.
  10. I bought a Schultz and Larsen Classic recently for around £1200; very easy to switch barrels and a well made and accurate rifle. Mine is in 30-06; bought it to take to Africa for plains game.
  11. I'm hoping to do some coastal wildfowling this season, but don't want to expose my game gun (Browning 525) to mud, saltwater etc. I have been thinking about either an AYA no.3 magnum or a Laurona magnum if I can find one. I know there are plenty of semi-auto's and pump actions that would do the job well, but I usually need about 3/8ths inch cast put on my guns, and I'm not sure if that could be done? Any suggestions as to what to get would be welcome.
  12. God Save the Queen? One of my favourite songs ever, although Pretty Vacant and Anarchy in the UK are both up there with it.
  13. Toggi for me as well; I've had hunters and Harkila both split in under a year. Harkila gave me a full refund though.
  14. Thanks for the replies; looking forward to trying them out.
  15. Thanks. The other option was some 28gm loads, not sure of the make, which I was warned had a fierce kick.
  16. Any recommendations for 28 bore cartridges for game shooting would be welcome. I have just bought a Lincoln Premier Gold and 100 Hull High Pheasant 23gm 6 shot. It will be used for driven pheasant shooting mainly. Thanks.
  17. Bought the Lincoln today; just need to find some time to try it. I will let you know how I get on.
  18. Thanks, tried a friend's Ceasar Guerini, but way above my budget.
  19. I'm getting tempted by the idea of a 28 bore, and think a 32inch version of the above would probably suit me best; I'm pretty tall and weigh more than I should. I hope to have a look at one as soon as I get some spare time, but would appreciate feedback from anyone who owns one.
  20. I wasn't really worried, but hope a resounding No vote will disapoint a few antis.
  21. Sorry, I could 't post a link because I don t knos how to. Will see if I can get someone to do it for me.
  22. The Mirror has a poll on its website asking whether driven pheasant shooting should be banned. Please vote.
