  1. Right. I promised a report when I received/used my Ruger Take-Down an here it is short and sweet...... Love it, mounted a scope and of to Bisley we went... 50m and grouping was under 3/4" which for me is great esp as the scope is 30years old 4*40 ASI thing (all that I had laying around). Have both the standard and 25rnd BX Ruger mags, was shooting Remington Subsonics in anticipation of fitting a moderator. Dis-assembled and refitted as per the instructions and it held Zero no problem. In 200rnds I had 3 stove pipes whereby the cases split and would not eject---- really simple to remove on this as you just release the barrel and the breach is fully accessible. Love placing it in the car in its discreet little bag. Hope this helps? Jay
  2. Gosh... Last shot here when I was a member for the years 84 to 88 or so. Moved away from the area but recently the family and I have been thinking or returning to Norfolk and just so happened to pass by the club when visiting friends. If we do return then shall definately be re-joining. Seem to recall at the time a guy called Bob Evans? Was running it- he had a CJ7 Wrangler type Jeep and as a then 14 year old I so wished to have one, still do but dont have shares in BP or Esso
  3. Looking to get one myself in a few weeks. Took a close look at one in the shop and was impressed- no more flimsy than certain 'Black gun' replicas etc. Pretty much all the reviews have stated that it will stay on Zero using the mechanism for locking the two parts together- couldnt think that Ruger would design and market something thst would not stay accurate especially in for the Litagatious US market? Lots of youtube vids out there and some nice vids on adding a Butler Creek folding stock, if only I could find a supplier of Butler Creek in the UK as Midway do not list the folding version. Will let you know my findings......
  4. Browning for me everytime...... Used, the 425 Sporter is great but off course it is now superceeded. Ultra XT with 32" Barrels I tried the Italians but being 6'00 and long in the arm/neck the Browings suit better.
  5. Hi, In France any pump, especially with a mag capacity of more than two cartridges is classified as a Category 4 weapon and so prohibited unless you hold the 'Authorisation' for it. The only way round it as they do in some cases is to have a 'rifled' barrel on it but rare as rocking horse doo-dah and fetch loads of Euro's when they do come up for sale. Recent example- Mossberg Maverick in I believe 8+1 with a 'rifled' barrrel made over €1000. Even if you have it on your UK EFP it is still supposedly illegal to have it in France. Rather like friends of mine in France have semi-auto rifles and pistols on thier French EFP but of course they cannot bring them over to the UK as they are Section 5 here. He French do have one nice thing about their equivelant of our Section One shotguns, and that is that things like Saiga 12 and Vepr 12 's have extremely short barrels as they are originally supposed to in my opinion- nothing looks more out of place than a 27" barrel on a Saiga to me, or a pump with a folding stock conforming the the mon overall length by having a 30" barrel on....... Off course this is only for the Boar shooting part of the original post
  6. Good place to go. Very informal and friendly..... Archery plus Airgun field target available too.
  7. Indeed, high quality construction they use these days......... Jay
  8. Upstairs and downstairs is normal 'modern construction' of beam and board. So would have to consult regarding the floor loading. Jay
  9. Cheers guys for the Input..... Will stick with the cheaper option as I couldnt even find and 14 gun cabinets that weigh 2cwt. Jay
  10. Tried to cut and paste a reply to 'Apache' but seems it did not work. Right, reason that it cant be attached is the design of the base- more to the point the feet, it means that the profile of it that it cannot sit flush against the wall. For one person to carry it away on a sack cart would entail several things. 1 knowing it was even there as the thing looks like a bookcase/ chest of drawers 2 knowing I even keep firearms( I know, I could be followed home one day) 3 bypassing the alarm 4 bypassing our lovely caring neighbours ( best crime preventers ever) 5 our cctv system automatically email me a pic of any movement around the house 6 using a sack cart, cripes I hope it has solid wheels or you r going to be dragging the thing, also only way out is down the drive through an electric gate. But like I said, just gaining opinions and love all reply's wether positive or negative. Cheers
  11. Simply because of the design and shape of the thing, sits too proud of the wall due to the base/feet...... Take a look at all your furniture/ cabinets at home then notice how some of them are either offset or angled into a corner. Have to appease the good lady as I am ruining her lovely lounge with an unwanted piece of furniture.
  12. Used to be 'Baby' But these days I think it would be 'Sporty' as she seems to be the one who has : A. Got to looking better B. not up her own **** like the others She is also the only one to have a follow up hit that I actually liked Oh ****, have I really just admitted to this.......... Right, wheres my 'Saturdays' album :-)
  13. Hi and firstly Happy Xmas A chance to get the grey matter working! Have SGC plus FAC and was recently offered a large metal gun cabinet which is made to look like a piece of furniture- chest of drawers actually in oak. Now this thing needs three people to manoeuvre it into place but as its meant to look like part of the furniture so as to speak, it is not practical to bolt it to the wall and due to floor loading cannot be place upstairs either. House is alarmed etc Have glanced through the Firearms act and it looks to be ok as its so bulky but what do you think? Could ask my LEO but its xmas and dont wish to bother the poor chap plus as its a dam expensive item I dont wish to purchase it in error to be left with a very secure cutlery draw. Thanks in advance.
